Default Stone trap

While cleaning up my new purchase yesterday, I noticed a small chip in the paint just behind the base of the Drivers door. There was indeed a small chip but what was surprising is that the entire seam was filled with tiny pebbles and dirt.

I only saw one screw that I could loosen at the bottom of the strip but it had very little effect on increasing the gap so that I could remove the stones. I finally used a dental pick and by banging on the panel with my fist I was able to get them all out!

Has anyone else run across this problem? If so what did you do about it?

Remove the 7mm screw in the wheel well; then remove the bottom three panel screws inside the door opening. The panel can then be pulled out far enough to remove the debris with an old toothbrush or small paint brush.

They are entering through the rear wheel well. You can remove them occasionally by removing the 7 mm screw in the bottom wheel well and bang the panel till they are gone. Or you can do all this and then chaulk it up with weatherstripping or apply silicone

I cleaned them out and installed the weather stripping as per a previous post in this string.

What type of weatherstripping and where did you get it? I can't see pics anymore in the DIY links above. Totally want this fixed before track days!

This thread is 3 years old ... Good chance that the person that you want info from is not here anymore.

Your best bet would be to start a new thread.

The dude's last post was 3/8/19, so my bet is he hasn't been gone for long if he actually left.

Some C6s seem to collect grit there, and some don't.

My '05 never has on either side. My' 09 did big time, and it was annoying as hell. My '08 hasn't seemed to, but I've only owned it for 8,000 miles; we'll see as it progresses.

On the '09, I would just use a toothpick to pull it towards the (wide) edge to be flushed out.
