Default navagation dvd

When I inserted a new nav dvd, I got an insert nav disk message. When removed and old one put back in, system operates. Did I get a bad disk? Any ideas on how to update 2005 with original factory disk?

It's possible but unlikely that you did get a bad DVD. Try running a DVD cleaning disc in th Nav slot, assure your new DVD is clean and try it again. It has happened a few times to my system when I have updated to a new version.
Good luck and let us know the outcome.
Just out of curiosity, what version are you trying to get to read?

Default nav disk

Wow, thanks for the quick answer. Thought I was the only person who doesn't sleep. I have a 2015 GMp/n 23286667 version 14.3 .

There has been defective Nav units for sure, but the OP did state that his old version DVD does get recognized, and clearly, the new version that he has is not compatible with the C6 Denso unit.

Not sure how he got wrong version. I ordered mine from GM. They are proud of those things!!! The original disc did not work and neither did the new one! I would have done without if not replaced under warranty!!

Default nav dvd

Thanks for the info. I found out that the dvd I purchased was not for my car but was given the code numbers of the ones that are. The unit works fine with the oem disk that came with the car but truly it is out of date.

If the last update was 2013, it's out of date anyway. It's a shame GM does not support all of their products that are a little as three years old. Same issues in obtaining fuel pumps, harmonic balancers, headlight lenses etc. I don't understand why GM keeps shooting themselves in the foot? Poor management from within for sure.

The latest version is actually the version 10 2016. It does have roads that were built in 2013 on the newest version as well as newer POI's for restaurants and hotels.
The graphics still are not what they should be however.

Ordered an updated nav DVD two years ago for the 2008 car. Still a PITA to program and the graphics and information are way behind. Done with it - using my iPhone now - free updates and Siri understands voice commands without problems.
