I'm trying to buy a car that is Crystal Red. But in the pictures the seller sent, it looks purple. So I searched and found many threads and it goes from dark red to purple and sometimes look almost light red.

I know it is a hard color to shoot, but does anyone here have a picture of what a CR actually looks like in real life??

It AIN'T purple.

CRM can be funny color in picture for some reason but I will assure you this. It is a great color and you almost need to see one in person to appreciate it.

Definitely not purple.

Don't know what part of the world you're in, but chances are good that if you have a good-sized Chevy dealer in your neighborhood he probably has a cr car (not necessarily vette) on his lot.

Crystal red is a tricoat which means there is a base coat and then a somewhat transparent color over the base and then clear coated. The end result is that you are looking at a color through a color. This makes the color change a lot with chances of light and angle. You can see the color of my car on my avatar.

Coming from a blue lover , CRM is the only red I would consider, Very nice!

the color is as close to Candy Apple Red that any mass produced car could ever afford to sell.

If you aren't familiar with Candy Apple Red, I have nothing more to say.


My car is dusty and dirty but it really "pops" when I wash it.

I did have one photo taken at a car show that made the car look kink-a purple but in person it defiantly does not resemble purple at all. The crystal Red seems to really pop in the direct sun light.

If it looks like candy red then I'm sold! Candy red is one of the best color and probably my personnal favorite. But most pictures of Crystal Red don't really look like candy red. But probably in real life it does.

This is how I see Candy red, if it's anything close it's good for me.

Anyone else has a picture that captures what this color actually look like in real life?

From the pictures so far, almost not two look alike. I'm about to pull the trigger so anything will help.

Pull the trigger, candy apple red, GM version. Looks great in person, and shines up. I bet this color would look awesome with a ceramic coat.

It's going to look quite different depending on if it is in the shade or bright sunlight. It is a beautiful color for sure.

I was debating between Crystal Red and Cyber Grey when I ordered mine. Cyber Grey also looks quite different depending on the lighting conditions.
