Best Air intake system
Hello was wondering what you guys would consider the best air intake system for a base c6 is. I keep seeing mixed reviews and now don't know which one to go with!

Stick with stock. If you do a search of this forum you will see a lot of opinions. It seems some guys buy aftermarket and then change back. (ME)! I had a K&N. Car started to idle rough. Pulled sensor behind air cleaner, cleaned it and then replaced the K&N with a stock air filter. Idle fixed. Your results may vary! LOL

Vararam. The fastest 1/4 mile C5 and C6's, on the fast list on this forum non F.I. run vararam. You should get a tune. Don't worry about water, just don't submerge the front end of the car in water. If you search you can find great deals. Buy the pre-cut shroud.

I like the Halltech brand myself... no cutting/tuning required like Vararam & some of the others out there

I put an Air Raid system on my '06. Installation was quick and easy. I don't know how much improvement it really is, but it sure looks a lot better than the boxy OEM unit.

Vararam for me. Zero issues with water, the car is my daily and has been driven in heavy rain (NOT deep water).
There is cutting of the shield in front of the radiator, which I'll admit is a pain. But no issues with the Vararam.

I also have the Airaid on my 2011 GS (A6) .... The idle quality while in drive is not as smooth as it was with the OEM air filter assy.
My guess is that the Airaid causes some unwanted air turbulence over the MAF sensor.

I would be cautious with any aftermarket air intake that could potentially hydro-lock the engine. My car isn't a daily driver and I don't make it a point of travelling in bad weather, but you can still be caught by mother nature.
