Default Escort IX vs Escort Redline - Which is the superior radar detector?

Was browsing around http://www.escortradar.com and checking out the radar detectors. Was wondering if anyone owned any of these or possibly the Valentine V1.

These are pretty pricey I was thinking of getting one used on ebay

I've been using Cincinnati Microwave, Passport & now ESCORT radar detectors for damn near 30 years. I'll say this to you, anything you buy from them is very, very good. Quality has be top notch for me on anything I've purchased from them over the years. And in honesty, that hasn't been but more than 5 to 6 radar detectors. And all those years I've had them in at least 2 cars. Your choice, either one is fine.
BTW: I'm not a Valentine user, nor will I ever be.
Best of luck, and they work ... no matter your choice.

For around twenty years my V1 has saved me thousands on my motorcycles and in my cars. My only gripe with them is that once I receive an alert, in red, the source indicator lights (bands) are also red...for all four bands! I wrote a letter to them about this the last time I had an update and got no response. Certainly makes sense to me that once alerted, seeing which band is alerted at just a glance by its color would be much more user friendly than seeing all red.

I've used my 9500 IX for several years, and really like it's long range, red light camera warnings, police warnings, and locking out false radar signals.

But cannot speak for comparisons to other types. If mine would fail, I would get the same model that I have now.

I just wrote a review for Performance Auto and Sound Magazine on the Escort iX. It is the best radar detector I have tested for them in the last five years. It's as good or better than the $1200.00 Beltronics STIR PLUS I have in my Grand Sport.

V1 all the way. I started with the original Escort and Passports but once you use the arrows you never go back.

Max 360 has arrows but at least when they first came out & I was making a buying decision, they did not work nearly as well as the V1 which has had the arrows for something like 20 years.

Don't think that the V1 doesn't change just because they all look the same. Valentine continuously improves the circuitry and software and you can upgrade them anytime you think it's worthwhile.

Stay away from anything cordless, they are junk.

You can find lots of YouTube video reviews of them all.

Had the ix and thought it was great, especially in town. Much prefer the redline on the highway due to the range.

I've used an Escort SOLO cordless for 4+ years. Not 1 ticket, they are more than qualified. I tend to speed once In a Blue moon. LOL

The Redline is unsurpassed for range and sensitivity.

It also will pick up BSM signals, so that may be a problem for you. It's not for me; I'd rather deal with false signals than miss out on a genuine signal due to it being overly filtered. In my area, Laser, K, KA, and X are used, so I can't turn off any of those bands.

It is also the only one which is 100% stealth, which for me, is important, as I drive in DC and VA regularly. This may also be important for Canadians.

The REDLINE is by far the best in long range detection. I have gotten warnings up to 8 miles out. Has never let me down.

I have an Escort 9500 and a Solo 3 -- been using Cinci MicroWave and Escort for a long time and have had good results. Recently took a trip with a new V1 as a trial and was greatly disappointed-- the arrows were interesting, but not helpful-- I simply lift when the thing chirps.

I don't think you can go wrong with either . . .Escort also has a periodic 'trade-in, trade-up" program and I'll probably take advantage of that this Fall.
