Hey all. I am still waiting patiently for my new lenses. While I am waiting I've been watching some install videos. It seems using a heat gun should make the job much easier than the oven and hair dryer trick. And since I do not own a hair dryer (one has to have hair to dry to need one LOL) I thought I would invest in a heat gun. So with that in mind I did a quick amazon search and they seem to be pretty cheap, starting at about $17 (amazon:
Amazon Amazon
). So the question is, is there a recommend heat gun to use? How do I tell a quality one from a crap one? Or will that $17 one on Amazon be fine for the job.

Thanks all.

Heat gun is the wrong approach. You should use an oven. heat guns make the job a lot harder because the heated area cools off too quickly.
use an oven.

My two cents. I replaced mine with Umnitza Lenses, good choice IMHO. They are perfect.

Anyway, to the point. I also recommend you use the oven method but also use the heat gun. If the area your trying to loosen gets tough then a bit of heat gun will save the day. Use the oven to loosen and don't be afraid to put it back in the oven. However the heat gun as an assist really helped me in removal.

BTW ... When putting the new lens on (use the butyl gasket they supply) put a number of spring clamps around the outside edge. No need to try and force the lens in position. The spring camps will do that for you overnight.

Are the gaskets shipping for those that have received their lenses already?

I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago, still waiting. I did order the pre-order option so I am assuming it will be about 30 days til I get them.

I pre-ordered mine on Aug 28, just 1 week short of 2-months now, and still have not received them.

Apologies for the delay. Every set of lenses has been shipped out except 2 that I know of due to angel eyes rings and/or D1S additional bulbs for the order.
Also, for those of you that got your parts, we went through all the container delivery and none of them had the gaskets. The factory got back to us this morning and said they simply forgot to ship them. We're working on a faster way but the box is big so it may have to go via sea shipment again, we're working on maybe getting 10-15 sets here by AIR and the rest later.

We can however use an existing supplier to get them to you faster if you want. The quality isn't as good as the ones we'll be bringing in, but they do work well and can be in your hands within 2-3 days.

I believe you are one of the ones with the angel eyes rings?

everyone's has shipped if they didn't have any special add-ons (rings, bulbs, etc.).

You should have tracking now.

Sorry about that. Roger, we can get a set out to you today but they aren't the OE ones we wanted to have yet (see above explanation).

We are in NorCal.

Hope this clears a little bit of confusion up.

Thanks for the updated. knew by selecting the pre-order option I would not get them right away. So it is not a big deal to me to wait a little longer for the better seals, if that is an option.

What demon eyes do you recommend when performing the lens replacement?

Since we currently carry all of the TRS products, I would recommend these:

Pick one you like
