Default Stock vs cai and long tube. Stock won?

I have 2008 base with cai and lg 1 7/8 long tube vs 2009 base claim it was stock. We race twice and he beat me by half a car or less. Second one was more of tie. Both auto. How that possible?

Driver experience? How was the race conducted? Was it a stop light to stop light kind of thing?

The CAI is a waste over stock. The headers will only help if you're tuned for it. If not those aren't helping either.

He is lying....

Or yours is not tuned right...

CAI is good if it's hot out as it stops the car from pulling timing , if it's cool out ..... no gain

How did you come out of the hole? , were you spinning and he was not ... there is no way if you are tune right and you walked it out of the hole that a stock LS3 would have pulled on you

My car pulls like a freight train ......as long as I walk it out of the gate

That possible because you not know how to drive.

My car with intake and header was only 1.5mph faster in the quarter mile without a tune so just those mods without a tune wont do all too much. And some cars are faster than others. When I first got my car it was turd slow. Like I lost to my buddies ls2 c6 by about 6 cars.

Well, that would explain it, after a tune, a different result

If all facts are true.
Tires/ grip.
Gearing.
or yep, driver skill.

Else the cai car needs a better tune.
Or the stock claim is not true.

That's my two cents.
Good luck.

Make sure they turn off torque management in the Trans Tune .....

it limits horsepower to 380 in the 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd shift in the name of saving the transmission ......( GM's way of making the trans last thru warranty )
after the tune I bet your buddy will not beat you ........

My guess is the ECM could be pulling timing or you could be running way lean which would also make the ECM pull timing

without a data log you will never know

get the tune , make sure they do a TCM tune , raise the shift points , raise the line pressure and turn off Torque management ....

you will feel the difference I can assure you

Thanks for the advice. Im getting a tune in a couple of days from pat g in Victoria, tx. I'll make sure to ask him about that.... without the torque management will it mess up transmission or put more stress?

Ok course it will put more stress on the trans but we did not buy a Corvette to have our horsepower limited in the name of a warranty claim .....

Mine has been off for over a year now with no problems and I can assure you that I do not baby my car ......

Your mileage may vary depending on the condition of your trans but most do not have a problem turning it off

I never realized how much it was holding back until I did turn it off one day , Wow ! is all I can say

If u get a good tune and learn how to leave ..hard without blazing the tires you will have a mid 12 second car

There are many cars running low 12 seconds , that is smoking fast for a street car that you can daily drive or take on a long trip

The next logical mod most do is heads and cam but now you run the risk of loosing some of that daily driviblity and the more power you make ... the more chance you will blow the tires off of it and have to start to run drag radials or slicks

The quickest way to horsepower is a blower but now you are really in a differnt class

I would drive it for a while once you get it tuned , I am sure you will like your "new-found " power

Dave

wow I don't have any add on parts on my 2011 base and just ran 12.24 at 118 mph. All I have done is a Diablo 93 octane tune and adjusted the shift points to firm. Hope when I add headers,Borla atak, ramair hammerhead cai and nitto tires I can run better

Some run better than others no doubt, I did not want to start a controversy by saying he could run 12.0 or better .....
