how many kms does it take for the engines to die?

Mine did. But I suppose it depends on what "minor mods" mean.

I don't think anyone would buy a car knowing it had a definite life expectancy. Not sure why the subject ever crossed your mind.
Many of us know of many vehicles that have gone 2 or 3 times that far with no problem.

Keep clean engine oil.. never let the coolant over heat and a chevy v8 will easily go to high 200k and many over 300k.. How many miles one will last drag racing or track racing I haven't a clue. I'm referring to normal highway use. Dirty oil and running a engine hot and all bets are off.

The LS2 engine is rated to last 300,000 miles by GM...The rest of the car is what you have to worry about falling apart......WW
