Wow that's the first Iv heard of that, I mean I knew it was possible just never heard of anyone getting such a ticket. I was once pulled over for having blue lights over my license plate.

They seem to be buckling down more in my area of florida too. Not heard of any vettes pulled over (yet), but other car and truck friends are telling me about getting nailed. 3 people so far, over the past few months, never though much about it until now. They also are doing the same thing for side window tinting too, got one friend for that. I have my paperwork saying my tint is legal in the glove box.....

I had a spare set for my Camaro for the annual inspections. Two days before I sold the car I got pulled over by DPS for the tail lights and no front plate. They do seem to be cracking down on those things here. I got 3 warnings before putting a front plate on the Corvette.

Hopefully, it is a fix-it ticket, with no fine for having it signed off. I'd certainly go to stock taillights and leave them installed - - most states' DPS or Highway Patrol officers will, if your vehicle is seen again in violation of the same statute, cite you where the ticket cannot be signed off. Additionally, as previously mentioned, you may not be able to register your car until the violation is taken care of.

In Texas, the "front plate law" did not have a fine attached to it for years. The last legislative session, a fine was attached to it. Previously, there was no need to write tickets for it, now there is. Some LEO use it for probably cause for other things. Most I have spoken to do not write citations for it. I guess it depends on the agency, and the officer.

Why not just take the tint off? Tinted lights can be dangerous. If someone were to hit you from behind, a case could be made for it being your fault.

Just a note of concern that will only pertain to some folks. Lots of people have non-complying items/issues on their cars that are easily spotted, and may result in a traffic stop.
Keep that in mind the "one time" you have a drink with your buddies, or whatever...you might be stopped for your very minor violation, go to jail (even if you are not over the limit), and have your car towed and impounded.
As already stated, in the event you are in an accident for which your non-complying item may have been a contributing factor, you might be in a world of financial hurt.
I had a friend a decade ago who loved to drive his truck with his super-bright fog lights on, and he also had a drink now and then. Two traffic stops, both resulting in a tow, and one DUI conviction later, he isn't driving with his fog lights on any longer. Some folks are slow learners.
