Clear top on Velocity Yellow
I'm considering buying a clear top for our '07 VY coupe. I like the dark look and would probably paint/wrap the halo, but would like input from others. I live in Northern Ohio, we have some hot/sunny days in summer, but it's not terrible. What has your experience been in similar climates?

If I can manage the 115° Vegas heat I'm sure you will be fine in Ohio heat. The interior gets a lot hotter if the car sits outside but the ac has no problem cooling it off.

I live in the San Francisco area of CA. I have both tops and I can tell you the transparent tinted roof makes the car very hot during the summer months. I really like having the transparent top, but if I had only one top I would keep the standard roof panel. So , don't get rid of the other top and try it out. I thought about putting a wrap on the transparent top that looks like carbon fiber, and do the same on the halo. Just never got around to that, in know 3M has a wrap that looks pretty nice as carbon fiber look.

I live near Philly.
In the past 11 years of Vette ownership, I have kept the smoked top on all the time, even though some of my Vettes had both tops. I love how much airier the car feels, and the sun/heat is no problem. Car is garaged, but driven daily.

I would not get rid of the solid top. The top is unused, still in its original packing, with hardware. Cost is $1,100. Does that sound reasonable?

I certainly can't use a glass top here in Oklahoma as it gets way too hot in the summer.

the clear top is great for cruising around and road trips, and I use it during the winter months.
I think $1100 is a little high. It might be in the box, but it's still "used". I paid $750 for mine.
If you are patient you could probably find one cheaper, so it depends on how bad you want one.

I absolutely love the transparent top...it makes the Vette so much nicer, visually open and the skies and moon all much more visible with the lexan top on - also it's so much lighter.
I never had any problems with the car interior getting too hot except at the Sandy Hook beach parking lot.
Since it's been on, I don't use the rigid top anymore at all.
Only problem - with both tops though, is occasionally during the first 5 years - they would fly the f&^k off <DUH>...which is instant membership into the Flying Top Club.

Its a personal thing I guess. I live in central Florida and never find the transparent top too hot (only had transparent tops since my '85 C4 and they have all been my daily driver). The a/c is more than powerful enough to cool off the car within a few minutes after sitting in the sun all day. And I have gotten so used to being able to see out the top that I feel very claustrophobic in cars with solid roofs ....

I have the duel top option. Like others I use the clear top in the winter and solid top in the summer. The clear top looks black from the outside but blue from the inside. I like both of them, but if I could have only one, I would take the solid top. And of course the third option is no top and sunburn the top of my bald head.

Good advice so far. I have both tops and being in south Texas it's very hot in the summer. If I'm going to leave the car outside for a long time I'll put the solid top on.

Ummm Disagree.... Why would you call it "used" if it's still in the box and with original packaging? don't follow your logic..

Oklahoma heat is way too hot. I don't have a glass roof, but I have super dark tint and cracking the windows sometimes still puts my GPS into "overheated" mode.
Ohio is quite a bit further North, so you'd probably be just fine.
