Default Not a huge fan of the C7, but.....

I just saw my first GS, up close, and I can see why it received Car of the Year honors. Wow. Still a little too rich for my blood, at this time, since the one I looked at was $80K, but if I was trading up, I would pony up the extra money for the GS. Maybe a well-treated one in a couple of years. Anyone else see one of these, in person, and better yet, drive one?

When I was getting my 11 GS a couple months ago the dealer I was at had several different colors available on the lot...all were in the 80+ range.....yes they are growing on me.....but I love my C6 which replaced the c5 z06 I had.....I was made an offer I couldn't refuse.....they tried selling me on a new one.....but I just like the lines and the interior and about a hundred other things on mine better... and I saved 50k in the process.

The C7 has yet to grow on me, but it is undoubtedly an awesome performer.

Yesterday, I went to the Phoenix Auto Show. There was a GS there. I like the looks of the C7. Problem is - I just DO NOT fit comfortably in the cockpit. I am 6' 5" and I would be steering the car with my knees. Years ago I tried a 911 and fit in it the same way. I could not get into the 911 and never again looked at one.

The "attendant" there was obviously "sensitive" to the smaller cockpit. Before I attempted to get in the car she was already saying that the C7 cockpit was designed to give the driver a closer fit with the car...yeah, no kidding.

The smaller cockpit, lack of emergency brake lever and the batman style rear end are currently non sellers for me. Too bad with the wider body they didn't push the frame rails out a little further for comfort and fit for us taller drivers. Maybe they will learn with the C8 generation.

I saw the new GS up close & sat in it. Still can't stand the hideous rear end, small cockpit, cylinder deactivation & direct injection. In 20 yrs we will look back and laugh at how ugly that car was and say " why did GM let the Pontiac Aztek engineer design the C7".

I doubt it. I've got one in Admiral Blue. I kept my '13 Z06. Both excellent cars, but the C7 is a better ride in many ways

Get serious, the C7 has been a home run for GM.

I agree, I do think it is a home run. There are so many C7's on the streets that I know GM is not hurting with sales. I still have my C6 mainly because I love it or I would have traded up as well. I like the roominess of the C6 over the C7 thats for sure. Also, the engine is not much improved as far as performance goes for me to make the jump.

Im sure there will be tons of "garage trophy" GS's for sale in a couple of years when you're ready. All low mileage deals out there. Hang in there!

Default The C7's design is getting us ready for the mid engine C8's

The C7's are growing on me especially the GS. I am not a big fan of the rear end like many people but you can see where GM is going with this design. Just a few more design changes and the mid engine Corvette will become a reality. The shape of the Corvette is very similar to other mid engine cars. The C7's are getting us ready for the mid engine C8's.

Even though some may not like the looks of the C7, its a better car hands down. Hard core C6 fans may disagree but that's the facts. It's just kinda hard to get use to! And about the time we think we are use to it along comes the C8. Wonder what everyone will be whining about when they first see the C8. Some people HATE change.

I may still get one. But only after it starts to get to the bottom of the depreciation curve which is generally in about 8 years after a car is new. With so many garage queens and people with familys that don't have time to use them much there are always plenty of low mileage examples to buy. Rather than get emotional about a car just to have the latest thing, I prefer to be smart about my money, yet still get to drive an awesome car.

Thank You. I feel it's amazing how many people don't understand this way of thinking. If you have plenty of money to burn I guess it doesn't matter as much, but even if I did have mountains of money I doubt if I would change my way of doing things. It's much smarter to invest in better ways.

While I can't deny that the C7 is pretty much out of my price range, if it were in range I still might not want one. The design is strictly out of Hot Wheels with all the contrasting air scoops. Just looks too much like some little kid's idea of a Corvette. As the transition from C2 to C3 demonstrated, the newest version isn't always the best version.

Buying used has been my strategy pretty much for the last 30 years!

Nothing like getting a "new" (to me) car every couple years for roughly 30% of the cost of buying a factory fresh one...
