musclecar desire
Whats up you dogs? Wanted to stop in and say hi to all my "black wheel"buds. Been missing you guys. Was hoping I was over my med issues but looks like I will have heart surgery in about a month. Wish me luck. I know- what heart?hehe I wanted to ask the all knowing, all seeing vette community if any of you studs wished you had a decked out 60's muscle car instead of your C6? I'm talking one that is close to a pro touring example. I know the cost is ridiculous, more than a very nice C6 but it has always been a dream of mine and if I come out ok with my surgery I am going to see what I can do to make it happen. Let me know your thoughts as I respect you guys. Did I really just say that? Merry Christmas all.

Hope your surgery goes ok.
As for pro-touring, I'm thinking that's more of a drag car - but its whatever makes you feel good. For me , the handling is more important than raw power so I'll stick with a C6.

While I've my favs, there's not one I'd trade for a C6.
Now taking a classic MC & go pro touring?
Expensive, and only if it's powered by a LS7.
As much as I love Chevrolet I'd seriously consider a solid well built Cobra kit car complete w/ one of Ford's HP engines.
Beautiful examples can be had for <$40K, styling & light body w/ modern chassis/brakes + HP? Sounds like a lot of fun on the cheap.
Good luck on the surgery, have a peaceful xmas.

Good luck with your surgery, hope all goes well.
Not a `60's muscle car, but I have been feeding my wrenching genes with this for over 20 years. Certainly not a muscle car with a 283 & 700R4, but something I can spend hours in the garage with, tinkering, tuning and replacing parts. In other words....therapy.

I come from the pro street and drag racing back ground and I can totally see your want.
Thier is a split bumper camaro on the c6 for sale forums that he is looking to trade for a c6
36,000 asking price that might be your ticket.
Good luck with the surgery

Having had a HA over a year ago and my oldest son having open heart abiout the same time I can truthfully say they work wonders. Mine was stents but his a little more complicated, doing swell now. So good luck!!!
I sold my 1970 SS El Camino 454 auto, a/c because it just wasn't comfortable and bought my 2011 GS, now I can cruise in comfort, doesn't have the nostalgic appeal but I cant suffer just for that at my age.
It would have to be a pretty nice pro Touring car to match the Vette, so no I wouldn't trade at this point

Good luck on your surgery.
As for your choice of cars.......get anything you want as long as it has black wheels.

Good luck on your surgery and recovery. I went the opposite of you. I built my ultimate muscle car. Real 73 TA but not numbers matching so I went full Pro Touring. Cost a bundle but had a blast. Met some really cool people, got invited to SEMA, raced in the Optima Challenge, made some magazines and won some trophies. After a lot a fun for 5 years it got old not being able to take the car out for just a quick run to dinner or to enjoy a smooth/air conditioned drive with my wife. I went back to a Vette. I drive it more often and enjoy the ride. Powerful yet sophisticated. I will get back into a muscle car just not so over the top. More enjoyable and stock. Watch Mecum or other local auctions, you can pick up a well done pro-touring car half price of the cost to build. Good luck.

Good luck with your operation.
When I was looking to go back to my youth, i was thinking of getting a decked out resto-mod T/A, as I had new back in 77. The more I thought about it, the more it didn't make any sense. The car had no room, was not very comfortable, and no place for luggage on road trips.
I didn't want a show car, but one to drive and enjoy.
No regrets on selecting the C6. It's a great car, lot's of power to unleash if needed, drives great, comfy and great gas mileage for road trips.
I seem to remember about 11 MPH on the 77 T/A. I spent more time at gas pumps tan on the road.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year

Sold this to buy my Corvette. It was nice but no near as enjoyable as my C6 and it didn't have black wheels. 350 crate engine with 700R4, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, etc.
The 51 fast back across the street behind my 39 is powered by a 348 with 4 speed manual. The suspension and rest of the drivetrain is stock.
