Default johhntran's build thread

Not really a new member but never introduced myself. But anyways my name is John, 24 years old and decided to start this because build threads are a dying thing and i really need to get a legit camera to document everything. I've been on this forum for quite a while now but never posted anything just lurking around.

I've own this 08 corvette c6 with the z51 package since july 2015. It orginally had 39k miles and now has 60k. I use it as a daily driver and I feel bad for driving it so much but hey that's what they are for; pure driving pleasure. I had originally wanted a c6 z06 but at my age and salary there was just no way i could afford it and risk the valve issue. so I opted for the grandsport but i could not find any within my price range so i settled for this base c6.

but heres to start:

It wasnt stock for very long

right off the bad i had ordered all the parts for the z06 body conversion including all the tubs, ducts, liners. not all in picture

new stance with the stance coilovers

c6carbon zr1 extended spoiler

elite engineering oil catch can, because these motors love kicking up oil back into the intake manifold. Along with Stance coilovers.

got rid of the leafsprings, and in with the stance coilovers. z06 quarters also going on

Had some forgestar cf10s specd out for the new body.

stock wheels with spacers in the meantime until tires arrive

ACI z06 fenders getting installed. quite easy i might add.

newly fitted forgestar 19/19 setup with 285/30 and 325/30 hankooks

people say the c6 corvette have an ugly interior but i will have to disagree. you dont need a pretty interior when youre having to focus on driving this thing

sold the forgestars and got a set of custom 3 piece Rotiforms

i was never a fan of the c6 z06 or the z51 brake so that had to go.

Brand new splitter

I got these from tce motorsports and i must say these are awesome!

Shes definitely a looker now.

up close and personal with the new set of wheels i recently purchased

some old pics of the bronze cf10s i used to own.

the ricer part of me.

uprights are way too tall but no issue

designed some shorter ones and had them cut from 6061 aluminum

this is pretty much how she sits today

all done for now, I am currently trying to find a daily and then i can pull the trigger on a roll cage and bolt ons then i can finally get this thing on the track.

John, good work man. Ive been doing some of the same stuff to my base...Ive been looking at oil catch cans but hard to decide where and how to mount AND i dont want a cheap made in china one. Can you throw up a pic of where you mounted it? It would really help, thanks!
I just got headers put on friday and relocated coil packs...
Already did wide booty with Forgestars and C7 extended spoiler. Mines also black.
Thanks
Choppy

Car looks great. Not sure why you changed the ZR1 style splitter for the new painted one since anything that low in front of the car will get ton of rock chips. Also tint your side markers.

thank you! this one is pretty convenient as it comes with the bracket to install. i can snap some pictures for you tomorrow when it is more visible. very nice! i wanted to get some american racing headers along with the coil relocation kit too! but its pretty pricey but youve gotta love black vettes they look amazing!

I actually destroyed the zr1 style splitter and wanted to try something new. and I wanted to be a little different. It was my mistake in choosing the wrong clear which is the reason for the excessive chips but I am planning to repaint with some durable clear and possibly find a way to clear wrap it. i really love this spiltter though, but you are right since it hangs so low it does collect alot of rock chips. i actually didnt want to tint the side markers because i like the white accent but im planning on getting clear sidemarkers for the rear.

thank you sir! Ive been debating on the zr1 fronts as well haha. sounds badass there, i couldnt even imagine driving a supercharged vette. GL on that build, its going to be a beast!

Great job on the transformation. BTW, never feel guilty about having fun driving your C6.
These cars are meant to be driven, not sitting in a garage or in car shows IMO

much appreciated! thats definitely true, i think at this point it is a little too much to drive everyday and getting stuck in traffic but nonetheless a pleasure to drive for sure! its actually a very good daily i just need some more seats

It'll be my first time doing the Tour D' Orange. I'll be joining my buddy who has done it the last couple of years in his Lotus. Will keep an eye out for you. I'll be in a black 09 base C6 with black C7 wheels.
