Just bought my first Vette. It's an 08 C6 base model coupe, Crystal Red with Ebony interior. I am interested in replacing the carbon fiber center console bezel with one painted to match my exterior for a little interior pop. Has anyone ever done this and what's involved.
A bunch of guys have done it. Are you looking to remove and refinish the one you have or just buy one? RPI, tko, performance corvettes and a bunch of other vendors have them.
It's an easy removal. The worst part of the removal is taking out the clips by the cigarette lighter and charger. If you search for removal of the center console bezel you will find the instructions.

Google and you will find pictures and how to's. Love CRM but not much on interior painted parts. Should be an easy project. Good luck and post pictures when you're done.

Want to replace it with a painted one. Interior is bland being all Ebony in color. Didn't want to go overboard with bling but I thought the painted bezel would be a nice touch.
I had to chuckle b/c I have a '07 Vert and recently replaced the OEM "gray" bezel (radio/HVAC surround) with a '08 GM CF" one!
I don't know if a OEM gray from an 07 will fit your 08... but if it ends up that it does... you and I should communicate. Maybe it can be a test mule for a paint project.
Note: My 07 doesn't have the mag suspension, so at the back of the surround, it has the "Tombstone" cover.

It'll fit. They are all the same dimensions. Replaced my 07 with one from an 11. As long as you don't have the mag ride to worry about.
Took mine out and painted to match body color (DSOM). Fairly easy/simple to do. There's a DIY thread on that has step-by-step instructions on how to remove/reinstall the console bezel; here's a link:
While you have the console out, it's very easy to add some aluminized heat shielding, and also shield the power wires to the 12volt outlets. Your console storage and cup holder area will be cooler, and you will greatly reduce FOB and TPMS interfere issues from chargers.

And if its an automatic, you might as well do the parking pawl mod since you will need to do it at some point ...

Thanks for all the good advice, tips and links. I'm new to the forum as well as corvettes and it looks like I've struck gold with this forum. Thanks again. I'm in Baton Rouge, LA by the way and a member of the Baton Rouge Corvette Club.

For me, the center console bezel is the perfect item to match to exterior color. The shape of the bezel follows the contours of the lower door frame, which makes it blend into the interior better than some other painted areas......JMO.

Don't paint your CF bezel. If you want to have a painted bezel, either buy one already painted and cleared, or pick up a cheap used gray one and paint that, then sell the CF one to cover the cost.

I've got a gray one off of my 07 Vert. PM me if you (or anyone) is interested. (I installed a 08 GM CF one...)

One of the first things I did to my '05, got rid of the gray bezel (all scratched from previous owner) and had Ed at TKO Performance install an '08 CF bezel. I liked the look of the '08 as the Carbon Fiber design was very subtle. Ed also did the gauge surround in the same CF look, to this day it looks great!
