Default Heater not blowing hot air

Hey guys,

Saw several posts for C5s, but not for the C6. Heat doesn't appear to be working. Outside temp showed 40 and I set the climate control to 70. I have been trying for the past few days. AC cools just fine, but I am not getting warm air when I am trying to use the heat. It blows air, but not warm or hot.

Does the C6 have any fuses that can fix the problem like the C5?

Thanks!

I'll check the coolant level after work.

I noticed I only feel heat if I have internal temp set above 83F. Try raising it and see if you eventually get heat.

Coolant level was fine according to the full mark on the front of it.

I'll try setting it higher than 83 on the way home.

Thanks for the input guys!

I likely won't spend a ton of money to fix this (if it's not something like replacing the tstat) if that's the case since the need for heat here in Florida is super rare.

What year is your C6?

I know for mine (2013) it did need some coolant and after trying the reset a couple of time I believe the issue was resolved. The heater seems to be working fine now. During this time I also noticed a problem with the windshield fogging up. Not sure if that was related. Good luck I hope you get it worked out.

2008. The coolant does seem full according to the cold marking on the front. I will try the reset a few times too on the way home though.

How long ago did you have the heat issue? I ask because the combo of little or low heat plus the fog on the window sounds like a heater core problem coming up. I hope your "reset" is all it needed.

This was my thought as well. Hopefully it kicks on when set to 83, but if not, the core is where I would be looking next.

I performed the reset and it did start getting warm once I turned it past 83. The air was no longer warm when I turned it below 83. Should I get a replacement thermostat? It's not a huge deal like I said because using heat is extremely rare here in Florida, but is setting a temp of 84+ to get the heat running considered normal?

Frankie mine does the same thing , as long as I get heat I am fine with it , I really don't care what the display says . I just set it to where I am comfortable

Thanks Dave! Yeah, it's fine with me. Like aforementioned, I rarely use heat so as long as it works I don't mind. Glad to see it's normal.

Heater core. Just like every other vehicle on the planet. It's a Chevy.

Default Similar issue

hello. I kinda have similar issue but need help. I don’t mind setting temp above 80-degrees to get heat BUT it randomly will blow cold air too. I fiddle with thermostat **** increasing to 85, and it might fix it for few minutes. Then it’s blows really hot air .. so I decrease to 78 and it’s perfect for few minutes then it feels like AC is on...it’s a constant battle. I have appointment to take to dealer but they literally told me that I needed to keep recirculate button pushed in. I thought that was BS...I have other vehicles and receive heat with outside air. And the temperature stays consistent ... I hate taking vehicles to dealer so they can keep ALL day and not fix...if I can give them
some solid suggestions I’d feel more confident that’ll get repaired. Thanks. Monica
