Why '08?
Almost all of the fastest showroom stock LS3 C6's listed in 1/4 E.T. section are '08s. Why? Was it better exhaust or different cam or what?

It's a LS3, I know there's not much horse power difference but probably enough to make a difference.

I'm going to have to weigh my poverty package '08 1LT. It came with the clear top which is supposed to be a pound or two lighter and no NPP.

When I was researching which model fit my budget and interests, these were a couple of the key things I paid attention to. And, being a tick older than 2009 to more current, they were a bit easier on the wallet.

The 08 LS3 breathes a little better due to rectangular port cylinder heads as opposed to cathedral port heads. The air intake was revised to take air ahead of the radiator instead of behind it. I was the first year of NPP exhaust for better air flow. These changes provided a modest increase in power as the LS2 output was actually closer to 410 compared to 435 on the LS3. If you can find a good deal on a LS2 a different air intake, manifold and exhaust can make up that difference. I've driven both the LS2 and LS3 back to back and it is hard to tell the difference unless you are going to race an LS3. The LS3 will slowly gain a lead on a LS2 when you compare both cars in stock condition.

I saw somewhere on the internet a 2008 Corvette registry type deal. I was reading some of the posts and a lot of the guys use some form of power booster - octane booster.
That might explain why the cars were faster that day.

The simple answer is there were more '08 cars, than the rest of the LS3 base cars combined. Also, more of the '08 original owners were more likely to race them while they were still bone stock and the economy hadn't yet taken a nosedive.

All of the 08's were made to race. That's why. 09 and up are made to just cruise and look good. Also, the 08's had RV cams in them. Not sure which RV the cam came from though. That's what I was told so that's my story and I'm stickin to it.

All LS3's for the Corvette make the same horsepower.
