Default 11 years with my C6

Today marks 11 years with my C6 convertible. The only other car I've owned longer was also a Vette, my formerly owned 89 convertible at 12 years.

In the 11 years the only repairs it has required are the air bag light (fixed it myself), the convertible top headliner (warranty repair), and a transmission (A6) replacement. The trans was a self inflicted wound and was replaced last year.

I've done lots of mods to it and a lot of show cosmetics as well. I enjoy showing it and driving it although it has never been a DD. The current mileage is at 38800. My goal is to at least keep it to the 13 year mark and possibly longer. It's been a great car and a pleasure to own. Just thought I'd share a few pics from NCM delivery to how it looks today.

One of the best colors used on a C6. Congrats on a good run with it. Aug will be 10 yrs for me. But I am a little over 180,000 miles now. Fear a transmission and diff replacement is coming up. Only other major repair was the fuel pump covered under warranty.

Beautiful C6! Love the color too. I've only had my C6 since July of last year, but I hope to have it for many more years!

I know how it feels to have owned a car that long. I had my 01 Firebird for 10 years before I sold it when I got the C6 last year. It was really hard watching someone else drive her away. I would've kept it, but it started having symptoms of a failing fuel tank. Something I just really didn't want to deal with. I still miss her. Here is a picture that was taken the day it was sold:

Great car! You mentioned the transmission went bad. What caused this - if you don't mind sharing, so we can learn something from it?

You and I have lot in common had 1989 Corvette Ragtop for 23 years, sold it and bought 2005 Coupe now with 59,000 care free milage with shifter replacement and two TPI replaced.
Still running strong.

Beautiful car and I can see why you would want to keep it. Time goes quick, I remember getting mine almost five years ago now. You were one of the first to congratulate me.

Adding a supercharger and not compensating for the extra torque. The 4-6 clutches started slipping really bad after 5 years from the SC install. I ran it pretty hard at Talladega a few times as well.

The current trans has a tune and I've adjusted my driving as to not abusing the trans as much. It was fun but costly. The old adage of "if you want to play, you have to pay" came to fruition.

I've known of a few early A6 trans cars (2006-07) that failed after a SC install and some aggressive driving.

A lot in common with the C4's we owned. My wing was not as aggressive but we shared the same rocker panels. I had the front and rear Euro lighting as well. The wheels are ZR1 9" all 4 corners with GS centre caps.

Wow, thanks! I don't have any plans for a SC. My car has 84k miles now - I'm the 3rd owner. According to the GM VIS report, my car had the 1234 clutch pack replaced at about 48k miles. It has no mods. I've heard clutches can go bad even if it wasn't raced - I don't know how true it is or often that happens.

Congrats, still looks great. I hit the 11 year mark with mine in May.
Mine was a daily driver for the first 3.5 years. Lots of mods, at about 78,000 miles now. Very few issues with the car. This is by far the longest I have ever owned a car.

Looks we both had same taste in C4, those wheels were limits edition Calloway made to take run flats.
I love the look of your Rocker panels, sure makes the car trim line, and haven't seen to many cars with rocker panel, in fact yours would be fourth car installed.

Always liked that color too. Just went over 12 years with mine and it's been great. Water pump and gas cap were the only issues so far. Got a 250 mile drive planned for tomorrow to visit a few friends. Congrats

Nice.. I'm coming up on 4yrs with my GS. Went 9 1/2 with my C5. I should hit 11 plus years with the GS since it's the last new Vette I'll ever buy.
