Default Telescopic Column Install -Clock Spring/Steering Wheel Position Sensor Question

So I finally figured out the wiring and now am going to install telescopic steering column in my 1LT Base .

(if anyone needs the schematic on how to build the harness and relay's that are needed let me know as the factory harness in a 1LT does not have what you need )

My column that I bought did not come with a clock spring but has a steering wheel position sensor . My plan is to transfer over my existing parts to the new column including my steering wheel positon sensor but I am not sure how to do this as I am confident that the wheel has to be in a certain position before mounting these components

Does anyone have the directions on how to install these two items

Thanks in advance

Dave

I have info based on a 2005, so I'm not sure if this holds true for the later models, or if this info will be of any help.
Here is also a thread on the steering column from last week or so.

You're welcome. There may be more drama to come, not sure.... Noticed that it may need some additional steps for the telescoping function calibration. Also included the steering sensor procedure.

Thank you again ... that is what I was looking for , those gremlins that jump out an bite you when you are not expecting it

Since my car is a 1LT, I don't have the memory function hence no ability to use soft stops so I can cross that off the list . I built a reversing circuit that uses the factory connector's , relays and switch on the column . works pretty good and looks just like the factory made it

The steering wheel sensor position and the ANGLE reset data is awesome ... I have a tech II so that will be no problem resetting

this is why I love these forums......

This may be the link Paul (lvtour) was steering you towards. Unfortunately, it only goes to 2005, and when trying to copy specific pages it just doesn't seem to work well. You'll need to drill down to the vehicle & systems you're trying to work on.

Yes, that is what I have for the links.
They do copy but without the pictures. I can use a capture program to copy the pics, and put them where they belong with the text.

Thank You for helping Dave out with the info he needed.

Hi Paul!

Every time I've tried to copy/past a hyperlink to a specific page from that site, it just seems to be a dead link a day or 2 later.

It's too bad because sometimes it will be a treasure hunt to someone unfamiliar with GM eSi. The good news is they'll tend to find a lot of other good info in their search

As far as copying entire article from that site, I just use 'print to .pdf' with win 10 and it puts it all there including pictures. Works just like the real eSI program in that regard. Only drawback is you can't really add more info like a Word doc.

Joe
