Got my letter today
#121
I contacted my local dealership about 15 minutes ago and the guy said the woman who deals with these issues was busy so I left my name and number and he said she would call me back to check on it. If I don't hear back in a couple hours I will call again.
Also - any danger to driving the car around town until this gets fixed? I mean is this something that the car should absolutely be parked until fixed or what?

Just sent you a PM...

Got my letter last year and got it fixed. They also found a cracked fuel tank and they did NOT pay for that, only the fuel pumps and the labor.

Made contact with the Chevy dealership. I'm bringing my Z06 in and their Corvette specialist is going to diagnose it to make sure it is having the problem mentioned in this bulletin and if it does it will be fixed. I asked how long the repairs take and he told me it's an all day thing.

Dropped my car off at the dealership this morning to have this done. I should be getting the car back later today and I'll post how much the total cost was.

I haven't received this letter yet, likely because I'm the fourth owner and just purchased the car a month ago. But I just created a post asking about this same thing earlier today and was directed to this thread. I filled up my gas tank on my 2007 Z06 yesterday and then drove 3 miles home and parked the car. A few hours later I noticed a gasoline smell coming from the garage but didn't notice any leaks. I posted it on Corvette Forum and was directed here.
What is the process of getting this fixed? Do I just call my local Chevy dealership and give them the service bulletin number and my VIN and they will fix it for me?
Is there any danger in driving the car occasionally with this gasoline odor coming from it?

Got my car back from the dealership yesterday and they fixed it. Didn't get a price on how much the repair costs (if your car is older than 10 years) but I did ask the service manager and he said it would have been around a $1,700 repair - so, pretty costly.
To answer your question let me just post what it says on my service paperwork:
"67041 upon inspection found fuel smell from drivers side fuel tank area. removed fuel tank and inspected. found fuel leak at drivers fuel pump. replaced pump and seals. retest good"

Dealer told me that they have to drop the tanks and visually inspect them. They also said that if the gas odor I was having was not the covered issue, I would have to pay for the labor for them to drop and re-install my tanks at $1000 charge. Luckily it was covered.

Interesting that his dealership told him he would have to pay if it wasn't the cause. My dealership never told me that. I told them about the service bulletin and scheduled my appointment date and it was set. If I dropped my car off and then called me hours later saying that it wasn't the fuel vapor leak issue and I would have to pay $1,000 for them doing the labor we would have major issues.

Any fuel leaking from a car is a major safety issue, especially if you park inside of a garage, you are taking a chance of burning your house down to save 1k

STRONG FUEL SmELL TODAY
I already had my fuel problem repaired by my dealership about 6 months ago without a letter. I filed a complaint with GM and the AG's office the dealer had my car for 3 days and did the repairs.
Now 6 months later the smell has returned.
Why don't we file a class action suit against GM???
