I have been trying to shut my drivers door but it will not latch.
Is there anything that I can do to fix this

Same thing here. Replaced latch assembly. About $150. No more trouble. Easy install.

I've had cars where the latch gets flipped out of position. Solved the issue by taking a screwdriver and flipping the latch into the open position then all is well. You want the latch so that the round section of it faces outwards so it can catch the bar located on the door pillar.

Is the manual lever on the inside of the door on the floor or the cable in the hatch causing it to stay open?
