WooHoo! I picked it up Yesterday! I'm a vette owner. Funny.
So I boarded my flight form Greensboro to Jacksonville Fl yesterday at 12:25. I had a quick layover in Atlanta. When I say quick I mean I didn't have to run to the terminal but I didn't walk and I'm just not comfortable saying I skipped through the airport. Although I was excited. I landed in Jacksonville right on time at 3:59 and sent the Seller a quick txt to let him know I was on the ground. I got no reply. We deboarded the plane and I quickly walked (no skipping here) to the loading unloading area to find nothing. I shot another txt and starting thinking the worst. After a few short minutes that felt like an hour I got a reply and headed to meet the Seller. Again I'm waiting to see AKA Seller Guy. 5 minutes go buy that felt like another hour, so I call Mr Seller. "So I'm out front are you here? Seller: Yes I'm out front. I don't see you. I don't see you either. Me:Oh no! Seller: Are you upstairs or down stairs? Me : Up, You? Seller I'm down stairs. So after a short game of hid and seek we meet and shook hands. We head off the to the garage to find what I would describe as a brand new 2008 Corvette. Perfect! 6lbs 8 ounce little baby girl silver hair, black..(oh wait that's another story). She was seriously spot on, just what I wanted. We did the formalities of a test drive even though I was already sold on the car. Paper work and one huge payment later and I was on the way back home. She is tight and fast. It's been a while since I have been behind the wheel of a car that has some power, so I was actually a little nervous. It was fun to be in the drivers seat finding new buttons, feeling the vibration of the engine and listening to the sounds. About an hour into the ride, I see a sweet new Stingray, the blue one. An older guy with New York plates. I passed him by with a short wave and I was gone. So I drive for a while just on cruse control and make a couple of pit stops. Every time getting back on the highway, I get a little more confident and go a little harder through the gears. In the evening, I pull into a rest area and as I get out of the car, a Mustang with at least some exhaust on it passed by and revs the engine a couple times as he goes by. I just smile and offer up a wave. So after I relived myself, I felt it was time to see what the car could do pulling through the gears hard as I got back on the highway. So I do what every guy does in this situation and roll my window down about half way so I can hear the pipes roar. 1st gear was gone in an instant, didn't even get to full throttle, still a little nerves going on. 2nd gear felt good and was pulling hard. I pushed it over to 3rd and looked in the mirror getting ready to merge over. I see one set of headlights in the near lane and figure just mash it and leave them in my wake. So just as the pedal gets near the floor, I hear this wonderful race car sounding exhaust open up that resembles lightning McQueen in the best sounding theater on earth X10. It was at that moment..... I know your thinking blue lights, but no. I realized that sweet sound was not my sweet baby girl. Remember a few lines back up when I told you about that older guy in the Sting Ray? YEP! He's still got it! He flew past me like I was hooked up the the Titanic on a cold winter night! I shifted over into 5th and with my tail between my legs I blinked my lights in utter defeat. Probably a shout out from God letting me know my place and that a car doesn't make me something I'm not. Anyway the rest of the trip was pretty uneventful other than a dog running down the road in Rockingham NC and getting off the Highway a few exits early to hit some 2 lane road on the last part if the trip. Oh and I did see a few deer on the side of the road that made me pay more attention. I rolled in the driveway at 12:07 this morning to my waiting wife and 12 year old son who had a grin from ear to ear. Long story short I had a great trip, ended up with a great car and I'm looking to have a lot of fun this summer with this new ride.

Congrats on the new "baby" girl
Your story is very similar to my experience of when I bought my C6. I flew in from Eastern Canada to Ohio, and drove it back home on a 2 day return trip. It was a blast.
We do need to see pics
