is it worth it to get a 2005 C6 with under 10k mileage?

It depends on what your goals are.
I wouldn't buy it because I don't care about that sorta thing. I bought a slightly modded 2008 coupe.
Had to be M6. Had to be LS3. My only two requirements!

I don't know if I trust a 12 yearold car that's been barely driven... I'm sure the person took care of it. But, only driven on summer weekends. 10 k miles, so in 12 years this car has seen maybe 834 miles a year?
That's not really bad, but at the same time, did the person take proper care of the fluids, tubes, etc.
I'd avoid it... It's an 05 with low mileage, that's fine, but I'm guessing this person probably wants around 27K for it... Skip it and get an Ls3 powered Vette that's been driven a bit.

Absolutely nothing wrong with an 05, as long as all recalls have been done (as with any year), or just take it to a dealer and get the recalls done. Depending on price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Loved my 05.

fyi, I have a 2005 with 100k miles on it, it's a beast and always has been, it's a good time to buy.

I am always leery of vehicles with that low of mileage (less then 1K a year); tells me it sat for long periods of time. I know of and have heard horror stories from individuals who have bought extremely low mileage vehicles they started driving on a regular bases ... everything from major fluid leaks from seals that have (prematurely) gone bad to major electrical/computer issues. Of course you never know when buying a used vehicle ... could turn out to the Corvette of your dreams

It depends on the price. For the right price I would do it, but if it was me it would have to be a 6sp manual trans. I think the 05's autos were a 4 speed.

My '05 has 31K miles on it, just had maintenance done and one of the things was change the rear end (differential) oil. The mechanic (Certified Vette) had to change the 5 seals in the rear before he would change the oil, he showed me where they were leaking. He said lack of use (bought my car in 2010, 10.5K miles) caused the seals to dry up. He had to pull the whole rear end apart, about 4-5 hours labor plus the seals and fluid. And after the job because he pulled everything apart he recommended and I got a 4 wheel alignment, another $160. Something to think about with such a low mileage car...good luck!

I bought my 05 in 2015 with 21,XXX miles on it. Zero issues to date.
If the car checked out, I wouldn't hesitate.

Not a bad price. Have it checked out by a quality mechanic, and make sure any and all factory recalls have been taken care of. Does the owner have service records? Also, if it still has the original tires, which would seem likely with only 10,000 miles, they are now 12 years old. I wouldn't take a long trip without new rubber. I would also want to know why it was driven so little.

2018 C6 of Year Finalist
I paid a small premium for my ultra low miles '09 last year and would do it again. Hopefully it had yearly oil changes, other than that I wouldn't have any worries. And the tires were useless when new, I'm sure they're awful now if still original.
As far as I know the days of leaking oil or other fluids from sitting and then being driven regularly are long gone. Gaskets generally aren't made of cork or rope anymore and hoses seem to last forever too.

Two years ago I bought a 2008 with only 3420 miles on the car. A true never been driven in the rain garage queen. Absolutely no problems with seals or anything else after 20K additional miles. Low miles is not a problem. If you like that car and the price is right - BUY AND ENJOY it. You are essentially buying a new car that someone else took the huge depreciation hit on.

It all depends on the price and options but older vehicles with low miles are usually the first to go due to value. I've bought that way many times and have never been disappointed.
In fact, I only shopped low mileage vettes when I was looking and ended up with my 05. It was a great deal and ride from day one.

What's a 2005 worth these days? I have one with 47000 miles. Bought it with about 20k miles, paid $18,000 for it two years ago. I hate the electronics in the car, but I like the car overall.
I am thinking about selling it however.

I buy low mileage vehicles, most often for myself but occasionally to resell. Low mileage vettes are the norm. There are so many of them out there that it's not a surprise that somebody had the self control or the ability to only put 10k miles on that car. People don't generally buy toy cars to daily drive.
I daily drive my truck, my motorcycles, my other cars. The vette is just another toy and the miles will always be low. The seller of the vehicle you want to buy may be in a similar situation. If you know cars, and you get to check it out first hand (Do not buy any vehicle sight unseen) I'm sure the car will be just fine for you.
For the record, VIN checks don't matter. A lot of vehicles are repaired by cash buyers and the VIN isn't recorded by the body shop. Only your trained eye will know if paint doesn't match. OR, you buy a paint thickness gauge if you are that concerned about it.
Best of luck on your purchase!

I wouldn't drive at high speeds on old rubber. It's the heat that causes tire failure.
Driven so little -- could have been an owner with a family? Corvettes are a bicycle built for two. Only two.

If low miles and sitting for long periods of time without driving is a problem for these cars, then Rick Hendricks is going to have a hell of a time, and a costly repair bill. He has many, many, many Corvettes sitting in his museum, just sitting there. There was a show on today (probably a re-run) that showed a black ZR1. He said it would never be driven. There has to be over 100 cars in that building, just sitting.
