If you look at my pictures earlier in this thread you can see where I just cut some dark grey seat foam and shoved it into the lower corners where there's a little gap. Not the best but I feel it works

With respect, I would suggest there are measurable reasons why Callaway, Lingenfelter and the Ram Air SS all share the same design, which uses the same cool air used to cool the radiator - no air from the engine bay at all. The main caveat is cost, cutting a big hole in the stock radiator shroud and installation pain - but I would rather invest the time and money in something that is actually going to get me cooler air. I think that's the point of cold air intake. Yes - no? I've heard people with Vararam solutions happy with them also.
Here are two shots, one of the Ram Air SS that the company sent me, and one after I got it installed. Note, the set of metal Corvette flags I added - just to dress it up a bit.
Good luck, whatever direction you go!

I agree with you on the point of it needing to be cold air to actually make a difference in engine performance. I have the GS so if I could get the hot air kept out of the intake and only suck air from the front scoop, I might be able to get away with using the stock intake. I really don't trust K&N style air filters so keeping the stock unit means a lot to me. Just thought this might be a way to have both! Hoping so! Thanks for all the info on this post guys I really appreciate it!

My solution is not intended to keep 100% of engine compartment air out of the intake at idle. But at any speed above idle, there is enough incoming airflow (with GS & Z06) to 'overpower' any leakage that would otherwise seep in from the engine bay. It's a relatively inexpensive option to achieve cool air to the intake ...even at low speeds. No turbulence issues and you get to keep your stock air box, filter, etc.

For me personally, I found it significant that tuning companies as well known for the final outcome as Callaway and Lingenfelter chose to go a particular way to address this part of the equation. LG Motorsports has a similar carbon fiber solution. I went with Ram Air SS as it is the least expensive among this particular design approach. At the end of the day, there are many options in this area and I am for a diverse world.

I think the safe, "correct," and wise answer is certainly. In truth much of what people tinker with, when swapping parts isn't really an issue of what was stock being inadequate. And, the reality is most Corvette owners prefer their car pure stock and won't buy used ones in anything but stock condition. Certainly the stock solution is just fine.

Im still considering another run of the intake shroud so am trying to gage interest. Please let me know if you are interested in this option. Cost would be $75 shipped. Thx. -DJ
BTW ....If I make a another batch, the area circled in red will be filled in on both sides.

And I believe it accomplishes just what its supposed to, keep most of the hot under hood air out of the air intake all while retaining the very adequate OEM intake. JMHO Nice job Dennis

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
That colored Corvette C6 emblem that is on the stock LS3 air intake in the photo below .... The stock air intake does not have that.
Any idea where that emblem came from?
Was it just glued on by the owner?

I installed that emblem years ago. Not sure where I found it. Possibly Corvette Mods or RPI ..... but really don't recall.

I did a bit more digging and found that I did get this through Amazon, from West Coast Corvette. It is still offered there, but at a much higher price, link below:

I've had four members that have expressed an interest so I'll proceed to make a batch of 10. But they won't be available until mid-April at the earliest. Hope everyone can wait that long. Thx. -DJ
