Default Corvettemods shroud?

Was looking into the long list of cai's and I was interested in the simple looking shroud that Corvettemods was selling. Seems that they don't sell it anymore? Anyone know if there's another one out there for sale that might be the same or better? Wondering why it's not for sale anymore, was there a problem found? Just curious! thanks

You are probably going to get lots of replies to not buy anything from Corvettemods. I just ordered a carbon fiber overlay for my A6 shifter button and got a plain black decal for $20. I tried to back them up for years but never again. My advice would be stick to name brand items that have been tested and found beneficial, Blackwing, Callaway, Lingenfelter, etc. Reading this forum will hint that if you have an LS3, a cold air intake alone won't do much for you.

I was looking at the same item on their site and later noticed it was no

longer shown .

I contacted them to find it was no longer available while at the same

time they had the same item on FleaBay listed as ten available.

I called this to their attention and it is no longer on FleaBay.

Reading the instructions / description on FleaBay, it was obvious that

cutting was involved if you didn't have a ZO6 or GS on which you

must open the air intake on the front fascia.

Disappointing to find out! I was interested in avoiding the high price of cai's while pulling in only cold air at the same time. I'll be looking for something else then! Thanks for replies

Halltech sells a shroud (heat shield) for their cold air induction with a little trimming it will work with the oem air bridge. I used a cardboard template for initial fit and then cut the heat shield to the template.

I was in the same boat as you so I got the intake shroud from them, not too bad an item, seems logical to me plus it was on sale

Wow! How much cutting was involved? Did you notice any improvement? Wondering how this compares to the vararam setup. Great idea thanks for the info!

Cutting = none
improvement= don't know
Vararam would be much better, also 3 times the cost IMHO
As you can see if you are talented then you could make your own version of this with sheet metal It just sits in there with pressure from the tight fit and being sort of wedged, that is if they don't make them anymore

Someone mentioned that they had to trim the halltech heat shield to fit the oem box. Is it a direct fit for the oem box?

i used to to make them. It's a neat piece but sales were slow so I ultimately dropped the offering. There were no problems. Those who purchased seemed to like it.

I could resurrect it but I'm not sure it's worth the effort.

What did you make them out of? Did you ever record any iat readings? How much did you sell them for? You've got one interested person already!

They were made from .090" ABS plastic. No performance testing was conducted.... but it keeps warm air out of the intake so there should be some positive benefit. I believe I had them listed on EBay for ~ $75. I'll consider starting them up again if there is enough interest. Thx. -DJ

Yes, look at the above photo mcandrew67 provided. Halltech heat shield sells for $129.99 on their website. I took that shield and trimmed it to my cardboard template that fit the oem air intake. The stock air bridge is a little wider. I data logged before and after, IAT's improved at low speeds and at stop lights.

I'm considering another run of these shrouds, - maybe 10 sets. Send me a PM if interested. If there is enough interest I'll get serious. $75 shipped.

There have been some comments about adding a 'vette-air' type scoop as a 'package' ..... but you don't need it if you have a GS or Z06. The factory scoop is functional and allows fresh air to enter. And if you have a base LS3, all you need to do is open up the radiator shroud to allow cold air to reach the filter opening. I leave this mod up to the discretion of the owners as there are many ways to accomplish this. The shroud will prevent hot engine bay air from entering the intake but how you get cool air to it is left to the owners.

before i bought the halltech beehive i did the toggle bolt mod propped open the shroud. intake temps were definitely lower especially at a roll. i am very happy with my halltech beehive intake. if it wasn't that id get vararam.
