Default New tires on my car

I finally joined the many of you who have installed the Continental Extreme Contact DW tires on your cars. All I can say is what so many of others have said: What a difference! These Continentals are sooo much quieter and smoother riding than the Goodyears. As far as the non run flat aspect, 99% of my driving is within 5 miles of my house so I'm not too worried about a flat tire issue. If it happens, I will call road service.

I have only had the tires on for a couple days, so I can't offer any report on tread life, or wet traction, etc. But what a pleasure the car is to drive now, without the harshness and noise of the Goodyears

If you are willing to share, what did you pay out the door? I am close to pulling the trigger on some new tires so just curious how they compare $wise

I ordered them from Tire Rack last Tuesday, and they were delivered to my house last Wednesday. I paid $634.26 total delivered. It then cost me $84 to have them mounted and balanced at a tire shop that my son in law's brother manages. So I have a total investment of $718.26

Nice price.

If I may ask, what will road service do for you? In most cases I've heard of, they will come and change your tire with your spare. If you have no spare they will tow your car to a repair shop. All of this is dependent on the type of road service contract you have.

My understanding is that they ride nicely, but due to the softer sidewall they aren't quite as sharp at turn-in. Thoughts?

I think about any other quality tire would be better than the stock GY's.

Had a set of these installed last week so I'll put my .02 in if the OP doesn't mind.

I notice a bit of sidewall flex when running at the cold 30psi. When warmed up @ 33-34psi the flex does dissipate quite a bit and gives much more comfort when cornering & launching. Can finally plant the wife back in her seat (which she enjoys) on take off.

Unlike the goodyears I replaced, these will flex a bit and grip vs unpredictable breaking loose at will.

I paid $738 out the door at Discount.

I don't mind your input at all. In fact I appreciate it. I can't comment on the straight line performance, or cornering ability of the Continentals since I have only had them on a couple days. My racing days are behind me, so my main concern was more of the comfort and noise aspect of these tires compared to the Goodyears, and because I am retired on a fixed income, the cost. The Continentals, for me, are the best bang for the buck.

installed these on my 427 convertible a couple weeks ago, and compared to the Michelin's these Continentals were about 60% of the price in the sizes I needed..................

being non run flats, slightly softer ride than run flats, but so far very happy with my decision to get these as well.....
