Keys locked in car and battery is disconnected help?
I'm not liying I wish I was, but I unhooked the battery to do a head and cam swap and forgot about the key fob and key in the cup holder. I closed everything and have the battery disconnected. Car did not come with a second key/fob. Is there anyway to power the car with the positive disconnected on the battery and no access to it? I heard you can do it through the starter but my battery is disconnected will it still work?
Trying to evade from paying the dealer 70$ to make a key thanks
And no I'm not lying I seriously did this, any info helps. Trying to get back on this project.
Thanks in advance

Help me figure this.... If the car had 12 volts of power, what would that do for you? The only fob/key you have is locked in the car?
Or are you thinking of trying to coat hanger it open?

I would call a locksmith. They could probably make a key for the trunk and get you in that way. If you have AAA call them and see what they say. You know there is a pull cord for the doors in the drivers side of the trunk? One for the gas flap and one for the door. Can't think of a way to connect the battery unless you can get under the car and reach up to the + and wire and then jump it and to a ground on the car. Not sure what it would do to the system but probably wouldn't hurt.
Next time leave a window down so you can pull the door opener on the floor. That's what I do if working with the battery disconnected. GL

I thought I read on this forum that someone took out a tail light and applied 12V to the tail light wire harness?
It's late and I might be wrong...
If you do get it powered up, then what? Keys and fob still locked in car..

Check what I said about getting under the car to the positive lead to the battery. Probably can't reach it and have to be careful jumping to it not to touch any ground....edit to my original post

get a 2nd key, unlock it the right way (Through the trunk key hole).
Maybe a locksmith can pick that lock? or, if you can see your key in the cupholder just fish it out with a coat hanger. The windows should be slightly open because of that auto-down auto-up thing.

This.
Or as others have suggested, go to the dealer with the VIN and have them make you a key for the trunk.
Exact same thing happened to me... when I was in Canada.

Your gonna need to have a key made. Battery charger will power up the car but that won't do any good. Fob is inside the car and will not unlock the car.

I wouldn't do that with a charger and a maintainer might not turn on without some positive feedback. I would look for another battery and jump it to the solenoid before trusting the voltage from a charger isn't too high without a battery and would fry the computers..
And to answer the unanswered question above about what does powering the car gain you if the FOB is inside, I assume the doors are unlocked and you just need power to the door solenoid to open it. If they are locked putting power to the car is not going to get you anything.
Finally, the floor levers would also open the door if you have a wire long enough to reach one.

Oops. Reread the first post about needing a key and the OP is SOL as expected from prior posts. Reaching the lever on the floor is the least expensive solution. Next would be a locksmith. Next would be a dealer. Next would be breaking a window. Next would be towing the car to a dealer.

not sure what year you have, but with my 07 it is a regular old GM key, dealer charged me under $10 for a new key and to cut it, only issue I had was dealer didn't have the key in stock so had to wait a day, luckily I have 2 fobs and now 2 keys
