Damn there are some haters in here. OP use the term "trips to Mexico". Now to the original question. I had a 600+ WHP Z06 last year that frequented Mexico a lot. I 1st had Nitto NT05R on the stock wheels, they did good at best. once the wear bars hit (which didnt take long) those tires were worthless, smoky burnouts at 100+mph type of worthless. the second pic was when I wanted traction, so I went with a set of 18's and a set of M/T ET Street S/S tires. those hooked after a proper warm up. Yes both these tires are drag radials and the *** end will get a little wishy washy but they are drivable and can still corner when needed, trust me I know. I am a M/T fan

I know you feel let down...but between a set of Nankook tires and my Hankang tires you will feel whole again.

Funny you mention that "squishy" type notion of the tire. I felt like after I got to speed the rear end woud "wiggle" to use another somewhat non-descript adjective to describe the way the rear of the car planted. I almost felt like if I were to pull the wheel too much...and for sure when wet...I would get the *** end loose. I never did but was scared the same would happen. Cheers, man.

Not only will this guy be a felon for life with all the dire consequences of that, but he has to live with knowing he killed some innocent guy and gosh knows the collateral damage that brought. In this case, I know of several tracks he could have used which are nearby.

IMO, no defense. He's like a guy who, instead of going to a range, chose to practice with his pistol in his yard and a bullet missed the backdrop and croaked a guy innocently strolling by on the street.

I asked for best tires because I live in the country and I have bad experince with nankangs and it's turns into a cbs or 60 minutes save the world commercial.

I like to speed with my vette on country roads that are far away from people. Not sure why I get all this drag race hating and exaggerations.

.
Emarrased, not at all.

I have a big project at work and no replies for a while. Ya, I wasn't aware of the snowflake sensitivity of a thread. I just wanted what are best tires and I get all of this sensitivity stuff about tires. I understand people flip about street racing and maybe the title isn't the greatest, but it's the kind of tires i'm looking for and if people want to turn into politics, thats their choice by assuming what they want. I.e.., PETA

I've had a bad experience with nankangs when i punch it.

I'll go with my r888.

To clarify, I don't street race. I live in the suburbs and when no one is at a light, I enjoy punching it. I don't care about the track. My current alignment and tire change ruined that experience. Getting a street racing setup would more than likely fix that, as the ? intended.

Not sure why it turned into a chuck schumer press conference.

Thanks for the advice. I have everything I need.

I asked about tires for the street and you turn it into a canadian drivers ed post. Really?

nankooks? I've heard of nankang, and hankook perhaps I'll have to look up these nankooks.

I'd be using R888 if you want all around grip.
I was looking for better grip. it's nankangs. Was at work and were hurried.

OP, I just switched out the EMTs on my 11 Z06 for hankook ventus Evo 12s and they are a good improvement with solid grip. They are super cheap too. I paid about $800 delivered to me and they have a $100 rebate.

As for the racing thing, understand your audience here. Most of these guys barely take their Corvettes out of their garage much less exceed limits, race, etc. Honestly, when an opportunity presents itself and it's fairly empty, I take it.

And for those who think high speed is the only issue with STREET RACING, http://www.whec.com/news/rochester-m...trian/4441425/

5 to 15 years for 64-100 mph.

Oh, BTW, Nick, how long is it going to take for the fire department to arrive way out in the country? http://mynewsla.com/crime/2017/04/01...age-in-pomona/ Doesn't take long on the track but I can imagine you stuck there for a long time before the VFD arrives.

To answer your question: Within minutes. I used to be part of the VFD in that area.

You can also feel free to step down off your soap box at any time. All of the preaching is getting rather old.

Ya, right. The VFD drives around all the time in that area. Hope our going to be around longer than many of the idiots that street race.

BTW, This is what IB wants. Lots of bickering draws clicks. Ain't this forum great now?

As I said, I used to be part of one of the VFD's that help support that area. Response times were always within a few minutes. Anything more and there wouldn't be much point of having a fire department.

The funny thing about all of these individuals preaching morality is that I'd be willing to bet that they have done something questionable or illegal in their lifetime. Perhaps take a step back and look at yourself before judging others with such conviction, I know I have and it's a humbling experience. You may just find that you are no better than the ones you judge.

And I get that it's illegal to street race, speed, etc. but you are not a police officer and your comments do nothing to alleviate that issue.
