How many miles until it is considered "high" mileage?
Hey guys, so I have a 2008 3lt base model C6 that I have had since September. Since then, I have put 15k miles on it. It has 43k total right, and only 28k when I first got it. I enjoy the car so much!
Anyways, I do not ever plan on selling this car. If anything, Ill keep it in a garage and drive it in the summers. Until then, I will daily it. How many miles do I have until it becomes a "high mileage" car? I would like to not get to that point until it is kept in a garage.

There are so many garage queen vettes that mess up the curve. I'd say 70k is high mileage.

Each owner buys a Corvette (C6) for reasons only they can justify.
It's easy for many to fall into the "don't put any miles on" trap, especially belonging to a forum where many do just that.
If you enjoy driving your C6, then don't worry about the mileage, because the drive train is pretty much bullet proof.
I have 85K miles on mine, drive it as my DD in the summer, and put it up for 5 months each winter.
I enjoy the car, do many road trips in it, and never worry about
the mileage. If the mileage gets too high (whatever that is), then I'll replace it.
I'm not worried about the resale value, so mileage means nothing.

There are some that think a Corvette with anything over 10K miles is high mileage, shouldn't be driven to anyplace but car shows, and should sit in a garage 99% of the time. Is that wrong? Not really.

We have about 52K on our '05. Is that high mileage for a 12 year old car? I think not! We drive it when we want to.

If you don't plan to sell it, then why does it matter?

Well, the average American drives 10-15k miles per year. You can easily assume the average person putting those miles on a Corvette in particular is well on the lower side of the Bell Curve we'll just throw 5k miles for the average Corvette out there for fun. Your car is almost 10 years old. So anything over 50k could be considered high. Or if you look at closer to the national average even 10k then anything over 100k miles is considered high or even 150k miles. The Corvette being a niche market car makes things so relative and murky. The only way to really know is start taking data from used cars sites and plugging in years and mielage until you get a solid data set then look at the averages and compare.

I drive about 6500 mi/yr total. Now that I have the '08 Vette (25K) along with my '05 911 (65K) that's 3250 per car per year from now on. My only regret is that being in my 60s I may not be able to drive either one long enough for either of them to go over 100K, and may not even live long enough to see either of these base-model mass-produced cars start to appreciate in value. The nice thing about the Vette is I can switch off the odo so I don't even have to see how many miles are on it

I'm driving about 60,000 miles a year at least and the mileage on my vehicles goes up slowly because it's all divided up with the work trucking getting it the worst.
High mileage to me is when a vehicle needs more than preventative maintenance. When you start pouring money into it, it's got high miles. That could be at 50k with abuse, or at 200k with gentle driving.
Speaking of mileage - I'm headed to my place in west virginia, see ya!

As far as I'm concerned, it's a car so it was meant to drive, which I do.
Yet I still pull this off:

I perform a Return on Investment (ROI) before I drive mine across town.
I have to determine if the drive is really necessary, and if I can recoup the cost of gas by eating Ramen the next day.

Which is rather ironic, all things considered. I bought my 08 vert a little over a year ago. I primarily use it for show, but at the same time, the car had 28.5k miles when I bought it, and now has 39.6k. I took it on a 4000 mile round trip to Cali over Christmas, brought it home, cleaned it up, and am now entering it in shows where people are asking me if it's new.
As far as I'm concerned, it's a car so it was meant to drive, which I do.

If you get pleasure in driving the car then you are getting value back.
Enjoy life it goes by way to fast.

C6 Corvettes are horrible when it comes to retaining it's value. Drive it and enjoy it. Life is short. Keeping a low mileage on one doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Even ZR1's are worth half of what they used to be.

my 99 C5 has 35k miles on it and i have owned it 16 years, bought in 01 with just over 10k miles, it has been heavily modded and torn apart a few times and isn't really DD friendly. I just got my C6 1 month ago today and have already put 1300 miles on it and now has 46,200 miles, its bone stock for now and a much more comfortable driver. I will be doing the balancer replacement as mine has a very slight wobble and I need to pick up an intake and exhaust as the car is too quiet
