Test driving C6 Z06 and C7 today

C7's newest generation Corvette, designed from ground up & supposed to be an improvement over all previous gens in all meaningful measures.
Maybe & maybe not, but total package is very subjective.
Cramped interior?
GM builds to its target demo, or demo they'd like.
Apparently GM believes buyer demo's getting smaller & if true they're willing to take their chances losing larger sized buyers.
Dash?
Solely built to appeal to computer gamer generation/demo.
(Remember Chevy tried a jazzy new LCD gauge layout w/ 'new' C4 in '84 which was soundly rejected. GM misjudged their intended demo, and/or failed to create one that time. Analog gauges returned in subsequent MYs.)
One either likes 7 or they don't for any one, all or their own reasons. Those considering a 7 are almost always veteran Corvette owners & probably coming from C6.
Thankfully if already driving a C6 an informed decision whether to keep vs trading 'up' is a nice choice to have.

I would assume that every ten years or so of a car's production run, its replacement would be mechanically and technically better than the previous otherwise what is the point of hiring engineers and/or changing the vehicle in the first place?
One never needs to justify what one likes just purchase in what you feel most comfortable.

This is exactly the same dilemma that I am going through right now; I know it's a tough one, right?
I haven't owned a Corvette since my 1991 C4, and I'm looking to get back into one of the following- 1. C6 Z06, 2. C6 GS (which I will probably do some mods to), 3. C7
I have somewhere between 35k and 40k to spend on it all. So I'm trying to decide between...Getting a C6 Z and having to either fix the valves or find one that is already done. Find a GS and put some headers and a cam in it. Or find an early year C7 with probably higher miles on it. Ugh, these first world problems

That was fun.
C6Z really does feel like a C5.5. Hard to tell the difference. everything is in the same place, feels the same.... love that Ls7...
C7 is indeed a different animal. This was a stripper Base model with 4k on the clock. Still, it's the first Vette to feel absolutely planted.
For now, I'll save my dimes for C7.

Not a hater, but I will stick with my C6 for now, maybe the C8 will look less like a transformer car, you can always hope, right?

I can't tell much difference driving the C6 vs C7. They both drive and handle very much the same. The C7 has responsive auto tranny but I have a stick in my C6. The interior styling is better in the C7 and the exterior is better on the C6 IMO. I don't care for the electric C7 dash and doodads.

I've owned a C5 and a C6 Z06.
Seats suck in both of them, but after I had a custom upholstery shop repair the foam and put leather strips on the side seat frame to keep it from tearing the foam, and put a piece of carpet between the wires/springs and add another 1/2" of foam in the bottom seat cushion, the seats in my C6 Z06 are just fine($95 fix).
The suspension on the base C6 rides a bit smoother than C5, but there is nothing "poor" about the suspension in a C6 Z06(that the OP is inquiring about). I really doubt that a base C7 is more composed at 198 MPH or pulling 1.1 g's than a C6 Z06. I have driven my C6 Z06 through 40 states and 55,000 miles, on every kind of road imaginable( from 10 MPH on a washboard gravel road up the side of a gorge in NM to running 145 on a two lane country road in NE and 145 on the old Route 66 two lane in NM, to 162 around the Talladega Super Speedway, to pulling max g's on the Tail of the Dragon), and I have never had a problem with my Z06's suspension holding my car planted to the road.
C6 Z06 LS7 505 HP is better than a base C7 LT1 460 HP. No comparison. Those are the two Corvettes that the OP is inquiring about.
Both the C6 and the C7 have the electric door openers.
I prefer the hand operated parking brake over the electric parking brake that the C7 has.
My C6 Z06 gets terrific gas mileage. 33.0 MPG average over a 450 mile run between Springfield, MO and Natchez, MS, or 29.2 MPG average over 2500 miles covering Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. On a trip last year to Deadwood, SD, I was running along at 74 MPH getting 35 MPG on I-29 and the C7 Z51 A8 behind me was running an identical 35 MPG at the exact same time and place(2 way radios between friends are nice to have).

Seriously !! I would quit while you're behind. If you think a C5 drives like a C6 then you should not be allowed to ever give any opinions on anything.

I thought the C7 was not as roomy as a C6 for us tall guys. I test drove my buddy's ill pass. Plus would take a lot of money to get to the performance level of my C6 as it sits.

Ideal body weight for your "normal woman" would have to be at least 5' 11" tall to weigh 140 - 171 lbs. For a woman who is 5' 5" 113 - 138 lbs.!
Which height is more normal to you?
I don't know many 5' 11" women!
