c6 is boring...hows the c7 in comparison
just some general impressions of my 2007 c6 now that ive had it for a year(had 8k miles on it when I got it) and put 6k miles on it. even though its an auto convertible it doesn't seem to "breathe" unless im running 80 or more. its very docile, rides surprisingly well though the bumpsteer is sometimes bothersome. its actually a boring car to drive(for me at least) at speeds under 80 or so. im used to driving older ones-they beat u to death but u feel like you're doing something-ya know what I mean? I know im gonna get a BAD ticket one of these days...I try to stay close to the posted speed limit but after a few miles I cant stand it and let her eat a bit. it cruises at 100 plus effortlessly. im looking at a 2017 stingray convertible...is there much difference? the alleged mid-engine vet is coming but I don't think I will want one of them.

You should post this in the C7 section and ask the guys that drive them everyday.

You should have bought an M6. Mine is for sure not "boring".

Yes. To me, all automatics are boring. You need to row your own gears to have total control of your car.
You are always trying different techniques and timing trying to perfect the perfect shift through the gears. Each time is totally different. You don't get that with an automatic. At least I don't.

We must not be on the same planet since I don't find my GS boring at all.
As far as the C7 goes it only has 24 more HP than an LS3. You prob won't feel a world of difference unless you drive the 650HP Z06. I find the C7 style odd. Sharp creases, too busy and the ugliest rear end in Corvette history. Nothing flows well on that car. You get the annoying cylinder deactivation, a cramped interior and still some quality issues this late into the 7th gen.

Have you tried the paddles. You probably have. I use them all the time on on ramps, passing, curved roads, ever so often just to get a little surge on the straits. As far as i'm concerned give me the same feel as a M without all the pedal and shifting, and keeps my hands on the steering wheel. Plus it's easy to drive in traffic. JMO but it doesn't much answer your question.

C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Sounds like you are used to an early C4. Had to wring it out to keep up with traffic. Where the C6 keeps up with traffic effortlessly.
As others have suggested learn to use the paddles. But keep one eye on the speedo.

If you wanted a drivers car and wanted to feel connected , an automatic was the wrong choice.. Who wants to just sit there... If you want to know about the C7, go drive one, then make up your own mind.....WW

Get a cow booster mod..it's 200 hundred bucks...you won't be bored any longer.
Problem solved...
The electronic throttle is dumbed down by GM so people coming from slow cars don't kill themselves...
The cow booster just brings the relationship of throttle response to hp more in line when they were cable operated and linier.
Trust me this 190 mph road rocket will entertain you big time if you just get a cow booster mod fro. Corvettes of westchester..
I prefer manual transmission but appreciate the values of automatic transmissions..
Throw in a corvettes of westchester tune and the cow booster and you'll be in heaven from the moment you push the start button on your c6 corvette.
I've put on 107k miles on my c6 with and without the cow booster...there is no comparision in driving enjoyment..
Btw...I believe chuck at COW offers a full refund if your not happy with Booster..
It's that good and you have nothing to loose,

Take it to a road course and do a track day. You'll find there's more car than driver. 100+ on a public road is as boring as a parade lap on a race track.

If you're bored in a C6 under 80, you'll be bored in a C7 under 80. If you want the driving experience you need to go the other way a couple of C's.

I had a C4 for years before the kids came along and now a new C7 A8 Z51 and have to say I can see where the OP is coming from. I've driven stick my whole life, but decided to go with the auto on this one and have no regrets. The car is my daily driver and getting stuck in traffic during my commute with a manual transmission car is not my idea of fun. I miss the stick when I'm out on the weekends and not dealing with traffic, but the paddles are new to me and do provide a bit more involvement with the car.
In my opinion, I think the OP's main complaint may also come from just how effortless the C7 is to drive. The power is all right there, but it's so well managed that until it's pushed to illegal speeds, the car just does what it's told to do; no muss, no fuss; just point and shoot. Compared to my C4 which only performed well under a heavy hand/foot and required much more direct driver involvement, the C7 is more than willing to do what's asked of it without complaint. Then again, the C7 is worlds beyond the C4 in build quality, etc.
Chevy has incrementally refined the Corvette over the years to where it really has two personalities. A perfectly docile daily driver and a beast once you get past the limits posted on most roads. The fact that the car can be "boring" in many circumstances is both a testament to how far technology and design has advanced and a detriment to what the soul of these cars is meant to be. The problem is that I, and probably a lot of us, get woefully too few chances to really take advantage of the capabilities of these cars.
