Default Anyone remove their door sill plates?

Has anyone removed their door dill plates and left them off? I took mine off because they had air bubbles in them and debating on leaving them off. Anyone else done that?

I would like to replace them with some nicer ones, but I really don't want to deal with all the remaining adhesive. Just thinking about when I removed the Z51 badges from a previous owner makes my thumbs hurt. I don't think I would leave them off though. It does look a little bare.

And, they do actually serve a function, unlike those "Z51" badges...

Thanks guys. I ordered some that are supposed to be aluminum, so hopefully they won't bubble. I couldn't stand seeing the bubbled up sill plates every time I opened the door.

I still have my originals. I installed the clear door sill covers to keep from scuffing the sills so the plates are still perfect.

My sill plates are working and looking just fine.

I might be wrong here but wasn't there an upgraded sill in 2008. Seems like I remember getting a package added to my very base 2008 that included sill plates.

Very easy to remove. Hair dryer or heat gun and a plastic scraper to ease them up. Wear some gloves for the heat. Easy job, clean glue residue off with some adhesive remover and you are ready to go.

The adhesive comes off relatively easy using "goof off" & it wont harm the paint

I've never seen a cover like that. The door sill plate looks amazing though!

Had those on my '89 when I bought it. They went in the trash after the 43rd time I kicked one off getting out of the car.

Plus the clear sill covers get dirt under them and scratch the sill plates
