2008 Manual Transmission Clutch
Purchased a 2008 with a Manual Transmission. Just found out that this year is prone to clutch failure. Is this true? Is there a recall?

Yep. Happened to the previous owner of my car. The problem is the clutch won't return once it's been pressed to the floor. He had to pay for it out of pocket as the recall wasn't available at the time. GM did end up refunding him though. Don't think it only affects 08 C6s, but mine is an 08 as well. Here is a thread that has more info.

The problem is the clutch master cylinder seal pops and loses clutch fluid causing the pedal to go to the floor. There is a service bulletin to replace the clutch master cylinder if this occurs. Some service managers will replace if you complain of clutch not feeling normal while others only replace upon failure. 2008 is not the only year affected.

i have an 08 just turning 70k miles and so far so good. i read where gm switched to dot 4 some time after 08. i switched to dot 4 a couple years ago and regularly remove some and fill with clean fluid. only takes a few minutes. car will be ten years old in sept so if it is going to go i hope it does before then.

Don't know if this will help but look for the "ranger method" of draining clutch fluid and refilling it. Other than that, maybe if it goes out on you, you can squeak in during the 10 year period of replacement of the master.

I hadn't the dealer change out my clutch fluid every 2 years and never had a problem like I did on my c5.
I believe it was less than 80 dollars every two years..
That's the best way.
The recall is just to swap out the master which doesn't require pulling the clutch. That's not a big deal in or out of recall. I never had it done and I've got 107k miles on my purchased new c6 z51.
Congrats and enjoy your new ride!
Most reliable car I've owned in 40 years...I always buy new and I never keep any of my cars this long. This corvette has been so reliable even compared to my other previous corvettes I can't bring myself to sell it.
It's been that good.
