Thats actually not too bad. Batteries have a life span of what you are getting. Are you keeping it on a battery maintainer? Daily driving it? In a hot area? Florida batteries can last as little as 2 years.

That's going to happen to any brand ... some last for 7 or 8 years, some only a couple. Just the luck of the draw I suppose.
That said, my original AC Delco in my 2009 lasted about 4 years, and I replaced it with an AutoZone Platinum, which is an AGM battery. It's still going strong so I'm happy with it. I keep it on a battery maintainer in the winter.

slowstang305 is right. Prolonged heat in the deep south -- Florida and southeastern Texas -- seems to be particularly hard on C6 batteries. A totally sealed battery can probably take the heat better than a vented battery with screw caps over each cell. Spending a lot of $$$ on a battery that lasts a long time in Pennsylvania or Wyoming probably wouldn't be a good choice for you.

My '08,one owner, always a FL car, came with a Delco dated '11. Climate and year round use of A/C shortens the life. Positive terminal was growing a beard so I suspected a crack, replaced it with whatever the nearesr tire store had on hand to fit. I think it's an interstate. Somewhere I recall reading that most brands are made by one of two manufacturers.

Lead acid batteries are not completely sealed around the posts. Flexing/movement causes them to gas out around the base of the posts and the white build up starts. The best thing to do is put a thin layer of grease around the base of the post and then add the felt protectors. It does make a huge difference.
If it's not your daily driver, keep it on a tender any time your not driving it.
I have had great luck with interstates MTP batteries. I think they are warrantied for 5 years.
The optima red and yellow top are really good too.

I still have the original AC Delco battery in my 13 GS. It is 4 years old now with 37,000 miles on the car and still holds a charge. I keep it on the CTEK if it is parked for more than a few days.
