I have a very slight understanding that people would have a reason to confuse a Corvette and a Trans Am from maybe a couple a hundred yards away, but are you suggesting that people couldn't tell the diff. when they were up close ??.....

I also have a Toyota MR2 Spyder where I'm complemented on having such a nice Porsche Boxster. And this is from being two feet away.

Its no more or less tacky than the stupid GM chicklet the factory put on. Tacky is a continuum of taste and technology, go to a corvette show and check out the crap (tasteful customizations) people were doing to their sweet 03 ride!

To my eye what is tacky about your mod, or any, is if its done poorly. The emblem does not appear to be centered or applied symmetrically with the corvette lettering on the opposite side. Go look at the ZR1 application, better yet go take some measurements!

Generally I'm in favor of what you did. Success is in the details but you know that by now since you got flamed for a few of them. I won't mention them again but will wager you think twice before posting another pic.

Right after I bought my 13 in 2012, I went to a local festival cruise in and the guy who was parking the cars was all excited and asked me if it was a new Trans Am. Yep. It happened. Up close.

In the mid 80's I was parking my Turbo Trans Am in a parking lot, when I overheard a man tell his wife while pointing at my car "Yeah, that's one of those stupid Corvettes made of plastic".

From a performance standpoint, the Z51 package is more comprehensive than a BMW M-Sport or a Mercedes AMG Sports package option.

However, BMW and Mercedes ensured that the M-Sport/AMG Sports equipped vehicles had subtle interior/exterior badges that let you know that it was more than just a base vehicle.

I thought the Corvette team should have done more to highlight the Z51 package similar to what BMW/Mercedes had done.

Putting a Z51 logo on the steering wheel bottom or a emblem on the rear seems appropriate if done tastefully.
With the C7 in particular, yes, GM should have highlighted Z51 somehow. The dry sump alone is a big deal. With my previous C6 Z51, I didn’t think it was such a big deal. Again, with the C7, it almost seems like a missed opportunity. Who puts goodies on cars and doesn’t highlight it? That being said, adding Z51 badging looks tacky, in part because the badges are...tacky! A solid color decal looks better than some of them...

Um, are you referring to the skinny exhaust pipes? Definitely tacky. You should switch to minimum 4-inchers. I see you bought the Z-51 model. Collector version for sure. Flaunt it! I bought the Z-16.

Personally, I think it's fine and well placed. If you like it, that's what's important.

This thread celebrated it's 13-month BD yesterday...did you take off the Z51's yet?

I don't think it is "tacky" but do think it is silly. JMO...an upgrade for a Vette is keeping it the way an owner of a Ferrari would keep their car, not treating like it's an '83 Accord by adding a bunch of crap to it so it looks like............an '83 Accord owned by a juvenile.

Having said that, I admit that I am quite tightly wrapped, and my opinions reflect that. So, do what you like, it is your car.

BTW...it is a very beautiful car...
