Painting Rotor Hat and Calipers Gloss Black or Flat Black??
Hey Gang,
Does anyone have opinions on painting their rotors and calipers either Gloss Black or Flat Black??
I'm putting a new set of Gloss Black Grand Sport Wheels on my Silver 2009 Z51 and the factory grey color calipers has seen its better days....
Yes I'm sure their is a proper paint name for the silver 09 color I just don't have that information in-front of me today...waiting to get blasted here...
Any pics??
Anyone have a good source for factory paint pens or brush applications?

Either would look good. Get a G2 caliper paint kit and just do the rotors like the calipers. No need to remove the rotors when using a brush. Powder coat or ceramic caliper spray paint would give a very nice finish but the rotors would need to be removed.

I'm going to apply the spray can affect to everything at once rotor and calipers .... I'd just love to see some pics if anyone had any...I'm sure the gloss shows a lot of dust as well...However, I'm thinking that the gloss would perfectly match the wheels...
Appreciate the feedback gang...

Flat or satin for the hats. Gloss will stick out too much and compete with the wheels. Calipers I would do in gloss, regardless of color.

My calipers didn't look great either but I took a wire wheel on a drill to them and they cleaned up nicely. I'm going to wait til I actually need to take them apart to paint them correctly.
I painted the hats with the brakes intact.

I'd paint the hats flat black myself.

I used satin black on the hats. Now they look flat. Just can't get them clean with my wheels on. Still looks better than grey against my gloss black spyders.
I sprayed them after masking off the swept part of the rotor. Pita for sure.

will it be to paint the rotors and with WHAT type/brand of aerosol
AFTER what prep to remove the rust

I painted mine Aluminum silver, but one really doesn't notice it that much. I would vote for a satin or flat black rather than glossy, but that is MO only.
I have yellow painted calipers, so I wanted to keep my rotor hat a low key color.

GM should really Zinc Plate or Powder Coat these Rotors when new............
For such an expensive car with a very high profit margin for GM.....these
rusted rotors look like poop if youre really into a clean detailed car...........

That's a shitload of taping. Next time, cut a nice circle in a piece of thin cardboard, lay it on the rotor, paint, remove and lay it on the next rotor.....done.
