You have to be strong to be a vette owner. Aske me how I know. I purchased mine needing some basic repairs. The CPS is behind the starter. They aren't that expensive (exception to the rule of vette ownership lol) so I replaced mine when I purchased my C6 with 90k. Keep us posted on what you find and hang in there. Once you get it sorted out you will enjoy it.

I did a search on the forum before taking it to the dealer. They will charge you $500 for other parts, then replace the plug wire for a new one.

People come here wanting to help, but then:
NO.
It may take a week or so (being generous here) to figure out what needs to be done next (even if it's nothing for the time being) but an answer should be on the horizon or at least a shop update in the meantime. NO shop should let a (business) week go by w/o an update, IMO

Quick update...towed to my Indy on Sunday.
Monday morning I get a call saying we got her fired up, but she doesn't sound good.
So I drove over as I was home that morning. He said without opening up the engine he can only guess at what may be wrong. He said become I'm still under warranty I should have Chevy look at it. Because once he starts to open her up. He's on the clock. Fair enough.
So the next day I get it over to the Chevy dealer I used when I had my last vette.
Wednesday morning I get a call from the service manager saying that they need to open her up and do a cost Analysis for GM because my warranty will cover everything. They just need to determine if it's fixable or if they will drop in a new motor. He also stated that most likely they will drop in a new motor.
Shortly after that I received a call from the dealer I purchase the car from. They said that the service manager from Chevy just called to update them on what was happening. They continued to state that they will cover the cost of anything that my warranty does not pay for. And offered me a loaner for the duration of the work. Which btw I was told it would be at least a month.
So that's all I have right now. Because as of yesterday they were still tearing her down.
As I get more info I will update this thread.
Oh they did said that the first code was thrown at around 2800 rpm. So this shows I wasn't beating on the car and broke something.
Anyway, I'm lucky to have a 2 great dealerships working together to make this right.

Man after only 2 weeks that really sucks. It's nice that it's warranted but what kind of value are you losing not having the original engine? Hope all goes well.

Must have had a major malfunction in the engine....glad that they are taking care of everything for you. New engine would be nice. Hopefully the new 427 will have all the bugs of the previous version worked out and you can enjoy the car.....

didn't the the LS7s in the '12s and '13s have some reports of bearing failures at low mileage ?
with the shops saying the engine doesn't sound good it got me thinking about that possibility...

Thank you everyone for all the support.
To be honest...Other than the MAJOR inconvenience, this has been pretty much stress free.

Ok guys I just hung up from the service manager.
The issue is a couple of bad connecting rods. He said the cause of failure is unclear. But that would be determined at a later time. The faulty part will be shipped back to GM and they will do an full Analysis.
They are waiting on a new engine OR...the parts to repair the exsisting engine.
His recommendation was for a full replacement engine. But it's in GM's hands now.
But anyway...he said my car should be ready within the next week and a half.
I highly doubt that. But he's been pretty precise thus far. So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Bought my '05 coupe in Aug'11, put new battery in it just to be safe. Coming up on 6 yrs, still same battery. Do not have battery tender. Wintertime, start it once a week and even drive it if its dry and no salt on roads.

Wow. Sorry that happened. But luckily, it sounds like you have an amazing dealership and shop! Sounds like they're taking care of you. Keep us posted!

I doubt there would be any value lost if its a GM slug coming out of the GM factory and being installed by an official GM dealer......
