I paid $350 for 5% ceramic on the sides and back. It would be half that if I didn't go with ceramic. Another $100 for removal. I asked about windshield tint and that was $100 for ceramic. No way it should be near $600 even with ceramic.

How much inflation on window tint?

$175... ten years ago for sides and back hatch.

I have had every vehicle I have ever owned tinted and never paid over 200 for any of them.
My Vette was already tinted when I bought but I still cant see 600 no way no how. 400 is still ridiculous.

Thanks for verifying guys. I moved to Vegas and that sun/heat in the summer no joke. So is Ceramic the way to go as far as tint?

...and I thought I paid too much when I did mine a year and half ago, $85.00 for the doors and the rear window using 3M with Lifetime warranty.

Depends on what type of films he is using. While I agree that $600 for tint is outrageous, if you ask him what type of films he is using I would hope its a premium tint film. I used suntek films on my cars and they are ~$200 for sides and back.. same job using 3M films were over 600!

The only film that could drive that price is made from pure unobtanium. The price is ridiculous no matter what he's using.

Did you guys notice that the price included tinting his windshield??

Maybe a little high but certainly not as terrible as you all say. Windshield would seem to be a pretty tough glass to tint to me.

Tinting a windshield? sounds ridiculous, dangerous, and illegal.

I don't think most read the part about the windshield being tinted. Clear Blue 80 is a tint that Llumar puts out for windshields, it is even legal here in Texas.
A local shop here charges $300 for the windshield.

600$ sounds high but I could see the price being that much based on what I learned doing my car.

I wanted ceramic but still legal limits so I got quoted for 1 layer of ceramic and one layer of tint to get me close to the limit. 3M ceramic wasn't close to the limit at the time. Also the front windshield I want to say was a ~200 quote for 3M ceramic. (2 person job)

Need more info about whats being installed to judge if price is ridiculous or not.

Although prices will vary depending on the film and where you are located, $600 is a rip off so shop around.

I had 3M 5% tint with lifetime warranty installed on sides, rear, and the front sun strip, plus tint put on the front/rear corner markers and the rear taillight for $200 out the door.

Paid $189 in '08 at a higher end shop, so about $250 today would be my limit.

Don't do the windshield and don't bother with ceramic. Do the max legal dark on hatch and sides and use a reflective sunscreen on the windshield if you're forced to park facing the sun. Otherwise, park in the shade (good luck beating others to those spots ) or park with the back to the sun.
You're not going to keep the heat out, but you can limit it to around 150 degrees.

If you want poached eggs, put them in a pan of water that's been on the dash for an hour facing the mid-afternoon Summer sun. The water temp should be 160-180 by then. It'll take 3 minutes cooking time to be ready to eat.
