Yeah, I got caught in a blizzard in my '69 Mustang convertible once. I didn't even get under it to clean afterwards. Go figger.

Careful, 3100 psi might blow the car off the jack.

I fabricated the wand for my power washer with a 90 degree where you would insert the various size tips.I use the detergent injector to soap it up and then rinse.
I turned the pressure down low Works pretty good
It never is really that dirty just some road dust

I cleaned the underside of the car with a product called "aluminum brightener". NAPA store was the only place I could find it. It is an acid base, so take care (don't open the lid and smell it, take my word for it). Read and follow instructions carefully. It probably took me 3 applications to get this clean. Rinse THOROUGHLY after each application. I have had no side effects from doing this, but I rinsed for 15-20 minutes to make sure it was all rinsed off.

I use ArmorAll on my rear diffuser. Plain old original ArmorAll.

Not sure if the exhaust is chrome plated. I think they are. They are B & B Fusions.

I also use Mothers Mag Wheel Polish on the exhaust. Then wax with Meguiar's NXT2.0.

Thanks for the info. When reading for the 1st time my immediate reaction was "what about rubber bushings or similar and how did they hold up to the acid-based cleaner?" But, you state no side effects so I'm guessing the solution has a good balance of effectiveness vs. causing deterioration on soft rubber or urethane parts.

After the application, how long did you let it sit before starting the rinsing? Did the water run-off (with acid-based solution) require any special precautions?

I would be very hesitant using "acid base" anything around the composite springs.
There have been posts about springs coming apart after using acid based wheel cleaner. Just me.

No deterioration of anything. I used this 3 years ago.

You only let it sit a few seconds. I think 30 at the most. I just did it 3 times, letting it sit about 15 seconds each time. Then thoroughly rinse.

This is a mild acid. It did not even kill the grass where it ran off of my driveway.

I certainly understand the caution of using an acid based cleaner around anything rubber or composite. I read the directions thoroughly and followed them very closely. I used this 3 years ago and have seen no deterioration on any part under the car. I'm not advocating for the use of the cleaner, I was asked what I used. And I did this in my driveway BEFORE I had a lift. It did not even kill the grass where the runoff was. I sprayed it on the parts I wanted cleaned, and then thoroughly rinsed, and I mean thoroughly.

I agree. And that goes for brake cleaner, Simple Green (which I saw in an earlier post). But I'd also ask LMB how long he's been doing this to the underside---it is possible that with his long washing immediately afterwards there might be little effect on the composites.

Ooops, just saw LMB's post above mine which answers the questions. Thanks, LMB.

I'm not a chemical engineer, but:

- A lot of acids have little or no affect on numerous plastics, such as battery cases and the plastic bottles some acids come in.

- I wonder what the composite spring is composed of?

- Water is the universal neutralizer of most acids.

Be extremely with NAPA Aluminum Brightener. If it contacts the composition spring for any amount of time it will cause the spring to de laminate and break. I personally know of two instances where this has happened. One instance could have resulted in a serious wreck. the other was fortunately in the garage when the spring came apart. What I do is wrap the spring with aluminum foil and then wrap again with shop towels.
