Driver's seat bolster wear.....
2009 Coupe showing wear on the driver's side upper seat bolster, Anyone have any knowledge about the neoprene bikini bolster covers Eckler's sell? It is not worn thru, and now I try to cover with my hand getting in and out. Wondering if these are any good or am I better off with the Coverking full Neoprene seat covers? Thanks in advance for any help!

If you want to keep from ripping the seat..........when you get into the car, don't stick one leg in the car and slide into the seat while sliding down over the bolster. And don't let anyone else do it either!!
Here's what I do when I get into my car. I open the door. I turn my back to the car (seat). And I sit down into the seat without touching the bolster. (I nevet slide down near the bolster). THEN I swing BOTH legs into the car without kicking the doors with my feet.
I might look like a sissy getting in, but I don't slide into the seat anywhere near the bolster.
Try getting in that way.

I paid $84 for mine from Corvette Mods. Maybe someone else has them. I would take a picture for ya but my car is in the garage covered ready for Plastic Fantastic tomorrow. I am asked a lot at car shows where did I get them.

Sorry I don't have any information on the Ecklers bikini bolster, but if the bolster is wearing, these covers are very easy to replace, don't require any special tools other than a staple gun, and can be removed with the seat in the car. As an option, you could just buy some spares and replace them.

I have a "new to me" 05 C6 70K miles. The seat look almost new and very well cared for. The past owner showed me how to get in to keep the bolster from wearing too soon.
Simply explained, it's like sitting on the pot. Turn around butt first facing the door and sit on seat. Both feet on the ground. Let out a sig of relief and wiggle butt, then swing legs in.
I am six foot and it is not a real problem. However passengers look at me funny when I show them the proper way to get in.

Just curious because you called them bikini bolster covers, not sure if that's a different product. I may be in need of something like these, I tried a cloth full seat cover but they would not stay in place.
I'll try the entry method a couple of posters mentioned but not sure my knees will do it.

I have had good experience with repair/refinishing of bolsters (black is easiest as they don't change color with age the way others do, so less custom-mixing of dyes). I use the butt-first entry/exit method. The only covers I ever use are the terry-towel type, as the backings on others can be abrasive over time.

My '09 had the beginnings of the bolster wear from the P.O. It wore through on my watch, so I had a local upholsterer replace the vinyl panel on the side of the seat. The reason why it wore so badly was because the seat frame was not properly padded and caused the material to wear out. I think it cost me around $100. I'm very careful about not using the bolster as a "slip and slide" when entering any car with bucket seats.

Thanks for the info, now are they really as easy to install as the catalog says? Basically just slip over the existing seats. I would hate to have to take half the seat apart, lol.
