Default Radio Question (NOT car radio)!

Those of you that go on outings with your clubs stay in contact with each other with two way radios. What type, (make & model) do you use? Any specific feature(s) I should look for. I am not a club member as of now but may go an a trip in the future with a club and want to be ready.
Thanks!

Any of the talkabout radios will work. They all use them for communicating and they work good for money. About $70 a pair. Some of the members though will have a CB radio as well for longer range. But the talkabout work fine.

A long time ago when Radio Shack was still around in my area, I picked up a pack of 4 walkie talkies for something like $50-60. Had rechargeable battery with a base station to charge them when not in use.

Motorola, but I don't remember the model. I just looked to see which model had the best ratings/reviews. They weren't particularly expensive. Real world range is probably not much over a mile, if that, but they are handy on a multi-car trip.

Motorola Talkabout™ MS350R. Comes with rechargeable batteries and a base charger. Units are waterproof and float. Powerful enough to give a range of up to 35 miles on flat terrain.

On a trip I bring a hand held CB. Not as powerful as a CB with an external
antenna but works fine for road info and such things.

I have done a few smaller group (4-6 cars) runs using cellphones, I think it was a group call or something like that. It worked great and was completely hands free if your car is Bluetooth equipped. As for two-way radios, I agree with the thread consensus that Motorola is the way to go.
