Another Long Islander here, rain yesterday, rain today, rain tomorrow, rain most of last week and the weeks before that, yes we have! I think we're 3 1/2" over our normal rainfall...

Yes, I thought the whole northeast was wet. Lake Ontario set an all-time record for water height a week or so ago. With the wrong wind, the peeps along the south shore have been getting hammered for two months now.

So why is what's-his-name watering his lawn? Maybe he's watering his Corvette and it's spilling over onto the lawn . . . ?

No one is commenting on the "Bang"....?! If the emergency brake is applied, what he is most likely hearing when he starts rolling is the sound of the E brake pad un-sticking itself from the corroding rotor? Eventually this may cause the E brake pad to dislodge or de-laminate itself from the shoe. Where I live there are many fluoridation additives in the drinking water, these additives WILL stain a clear coat if left to dry in the hot sun with repeated exposure can even stain glass. I would not worry about rain as much as sprinklers, especially on a hot sunny day. make sure you get a good coat of Zymol on your clear coat... I live in Massachusetts it's been cloudy and rainy since the start of May.. I have yet to run my sprinklers, unlike last year?

It actually will. Water marks can and will etch your clear coat.

Rain is not a problem. Municipal water left on the paint can be a big problem.

Edit to add: I DD mine rain or shine all summer. I regularly drive it in the rain and put it away wet (I do wash it at the end of every week though). Vettes are not afraid of rain.

But if I get water from a hose or sprinkler on the car, I wipe it off ASAP.

Though, have you ever seen the C7Rs up close?

Gotta love those beasts, but they are in pretty rough shape.

I guess they aren't concerned with scratches, swirls and water marks.

In a fellow LI'ers defense, I had to put my sprinklers on last week. I had to put down some kind of fertilizer/weed killer and instructions said put on a wet lawn (it adheres to the weeds better) but it couldn't rain for 24-48 hours after that so as not to wash it away so my sprinklers ran through a cycle. Yeah, weather sucks this year, we're usually up in Americade (Lake George) but I skipped last year and this, no fun riding in the rain and it seems it always rains for half the days we're there.

I just got a new GMC, black cause that was the only color they had with a tow package. Came out one morning and it was yellow from pollen, I hosed it off while it was cool, sun wasn't shining yet. I came out couple of hours later, car had dried and white spots and residue everywhere, looked and felt like s**t! I tried wiping it a bit but stopped after awhile, too much work. It rained heavy the next day and following morning I came out, car looked like it went through the car wash, CLEAN and shiny. Now I leave it, rain yes, hose no!

Rotors flash rust within 10 minutes of getting wet.. It's normal, they go away the moment you start driving and brake.

However, it's pretty easy to change a sprinkler head or adjust the direction so you should probably do that.

When i bought my Coupe in 2014 the drivers side had water spots from sprinklers, i had to do "paint correction"... meaning i used an orbital buffer and correction compound.

Then I used finishing wax.

Before i did this i clay bar'd the car.
Then I put a polymer coating.

This makes water run off the car and will not hurt your car any longer...
