I'm personally not sure. This car has just over 100k. I will say this, I have driven this car hard since I bought it @60K. Constant redline pulls, living in the 5k+ range and quite often 6500+range. It's been a marvelous engine, it's taken a beating for every single mile and it's had no issues until this. I'm simply amazed at the LS engine honestly. I've never beat on a car like this and it just takes it.

My question now is what to do. Is a 100k corvette worth putting the money in to do things right, or do I just sell it and take the hit and move to something else like a z06 or c7.

I would not get a C6 Z06 or you just might have a bigger problem...Look for a GS...Good Luck

The Z06 is not some problem child. The only issue is the valve guides which are cheaper to have fixed than a set of tires.

The next car you choose should be based on your goals.

I am not sure about rebuild costs to say whether you should fix or not. Get an estimate and go from there.

All I know is that it doesn't sound anything like when I had a lifter problem on my LS2.

Mine was an irregular ticking, not a chirping sound.

Ticking is an indication that the lifter has collaped or suffered an internal failure. Chirping is usually a sign that the roller has locked up or the lifter has turned sideways in the bore.
