Default Opinions on eBay replica wheels?

Hiya,

Are the replica wheels on eBay something we should stray away from? For example, like this set here -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-Whe...lX3GQ9&vxp=mtr

If I track/autocross, it would be 1-2 times a year max, so no real performance driving - if it matters.

Thanks!

You may also want to check with Keith at www.floridaspeedshop.com (DocZ@1stRateCorvette) or Bob at House of Wheels........................

both are forum vendors and offer similar wheel packages at similar pricing without an issues reported here on the forum............

I'd just deal with a reputable forum vendor that sells replica wheels and will stand behind them.

Depends.
Seems they are heavy.... certainly heavier per wheel than the stock wheels....quality seems good.
I needed a set for autocross on a C5 Z06. For the tires I needed (Falken 615K+) I needed an 18x9.5 front to stay in stock class. Only way to get one is to buy one of the Chinese knockoffs (Cheap Cheap price) OR have a custom Forgeline or other made (expensive).
Tradeoffs all around.

After reading some of the horror stories here on wheel deals gone bad with online sellers I think I would deal with a brick and mortar local store. not saying they are all bad but it can be a real PITA, what with having them mounted then discover a problem, them un-mounting them and sending them back (if your lucky enough to get a RA#).
If I had a problem with say, Discount Tire, I know they would do whatever it takes to get it corrected and with no questions about it, That's worth the extra money
But that's just me

I've had two sets of replica/Chinese wheels. They've been great. No problems. I bought my last set from Alex at Florida Speed. 100% all good.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on them. I'll be ordering from them in the near future... will post results. I'm assuming decent shops will know how to remount the TPMS sensors with no issues correct?

Look up House of Wheels. I have a 2011 GS and at that time I paid the same price for the OEM GM GS Chrome wheels instead of getting the replicas. I think the guy name is BoB that talks on the phone there. He can really help you out and they have great prices. He has the replicas and OEMs

I tried Discount Tire (they are my go-to place for tires) when I bought wheels for my GS. They could not source anything to fit (the rears were the issue).

I went with Florida Speed Shop and had Discount Tire do the install.

No issues whatsoever with the wheels or the install.

Keith at Florida Speed Shop gave me a great price on these. I'm still waiting for the center cap emblems, but I had to get them on and take a few pics.

No Chinese wheels for me. I've had too many metallic items hecho in China that failed. IMHO it's like buying a $20 helmet.

Default Wheels

Those are bad ****! Exactly what I am putting on mine here shortly. Nice choice in chrome. I don't get the black out look, but to each his own I guess. The base model needs the chrome!

Have not decided who to buy from yet.

Car looks great. Love the wheels. How hard are they to clean?

I have the same set and they are a PITA. Even if you're just wiping them down, there are a lot of surfaces and angles to hit. Well worth it in my opinion though
