P/o lived in NY (2 plate state) and Florida (1 plate) his OEM bracket was unfortunately screwed into the bumper. I did not want to get the bumper repainted because I was worried about mismatch that you can clearly see from the hood against the front bumper.i just used black GE silicone and filled the holes in. I have a black car so it does not look too bad. For now this will do. Lousy design. My C4 was better hidden by the cover.

That's awesome! I would of freaked out, cursed out everyone, thrown a tantrum, maybe pushed over a few things, and then looked like a total @** when there was a simple solution to the whole problem. I'm not advising that, but that's just how I roll.

So I have a question. Were the panels painted on the car or off? If ANYTHING was painted on the car it is not a high end job. Second, having a no orange peel finish is a dead give away that paint work was done because it will not match the rest of the car. Some orange peel has to be left behind and a great body shop would know this.

As a matter of fact neither does my wife's black AMG or my daughter's Nissan Altima or my 2014 black metallic Tarius
This is not the nineties when it comes to paint

If I must have a plate on the C6 I would go with Top Flight's mount. It just leaves the mount attached under the bumper and then you attach the plate part when needed. I had one attached to my GS in Utah (two plate state) but rarely used the plate. Although I heard some states enforce the two plate rule if your state has that rule.

Really .... I don't know what kind of crappy paint job you have on your corvette but my torch red does not have any orange peal at all

Sky High....don't know what planet you are from...but you should fly back there and stay. I love these warm fuzzy's that come in with neg comments to exacerbate an honest post. Probably masturbating while they are typing.
The panels were painted off the car. for your info...I have own 3 c5's and 3 c6's in the last 10 years, mosty red. There has not been a shred of orange peel on any of them. I personally detailed this car before the accident and know every surface. My buddy at Maaco matched the paint perfectly and I am ecstatic.
