Default The dreaded hot weather Top creak ?

Ok,it must be the hot weather that came on a few days ago here in SoCal. Too much coincidence for the top to start creaking.

I purchased my 2011 GS late last August and I had never noticed a creak from the top until last week when the weather started heating up and then today at 100 degrees the creaking was more noticeable.

Is this just something to live with ?

And no I'm not going to "just take the top off" when its over 100 degrees here with a shaved head. I'm a top on type guy anyway.

Actually I was surprised that when I bought my c6 that it wasn't a rattle trap like my c4 was.
It still does have corvette 'noises' but not too bad. Thats what the crappy AM reception is for, to cover up the noises.

There seems to be 4 fixes that I've found on here -

1. Grease the weatherstripping/rubber
2. Grease the 4 pings on the top
3. Insert a rubber washer onto the front pins - there's a thread somewhere for sizes
4. Tighten the pins with a socket/wrench

You can try some of this on the weather stripping.

Shrink wrap the rear pins. That is a metal to metal connection that makes a lot of noise. Crystal is off a little bit in the comment above. You add a metal c clip to the front handles, not rubber. No need to grease up your weatherstrips (at least I never did, yuck!). If you are driving by Chino, stop over here and we can put some shrink wrap on in minutes.

Thanks everyone! I won't be by Chino anytime soon but what size shrink wrap did you use? Thanks again for all the tips.
