Default Clear bra?

Just picked up my first Vette. A 2012 GS Cent.

Anyone have a clear bra on their car? How do you like it? Was it expensive?

I have one on my 2008. It was on the car already when I bought it. I like it since it keeps the front end from getting pitted. It's about $500 -$1000 depending on where you go to get it installed.

Find a reputable place. Not all certified installers are created equal.

I have it on my 2006. It was on it when I bought the car. It also has the mirrors and wheel well film. Makes cleaning the bugs off the front a lot easier. Highly recommend.

I had Suntek PPF on my previous car. Loved it.
The biggest difference between the 3 major brands (3M, Suntek, Xpel) are who installs it.

Where are you located? I'm sure there are others in your area that can recommend a top notch installer.

It's really worth it. Some people don't like bc it hides the high gloss of the paint a little bit but for me you get used to it quickly especially when your protected against rock chips and bugs and the like are a breeze to clean. I have it from the front to the rear of the doors. Love it

It's worth every penny. Recently just purchased my C6. Within the first week of owning it I had PPF film installed on the whole car because I'm **** and I hate scratches and I don't trust people. But I digress.

My paranoia was justified about 3 days after the install. I walked up to my car in my work parking lot and found that someone had swiped the front corner of the car. I freaked out but then remembered I had the film on it.

I took it back to the shop, and they took the film off to find that there was not a single scratch or scuff under the film. They re-installed the film an you would never know anything even happened. Go get it done

Get it done ASAP, no regrets, not one scratch or mark, technology is great, more wax you put on it the better the gloss gets like paint. As others have said, it's all about the installer.

Had one on my 06 Z when I bought it. Peeled it off last winter because of yellowing and lots and lots of rock chips. Not a scratch on the paint itself, nowhere. I was quoted $1000 to have it re-applied.

Congrats. I have the clear bra on my GS CE which cost a total of $900. I wouldn't be driving it without a clear bra, especially on RT.80. Now, it doesn't matter what road or highway I'm on, it gives me great peace of mind.

Is it just on the nose, or does it come back further onto the hood? Does it cover the black stripes at all? Do you have it in other areas too like, mirrors?, rear fenders? Etc.

I had Suntek PPF installed when I first bought the car with 14K as the car was pampered and very clean. Did the front bumper cover and the back of the mirrors, but in hindsight, should of did a partial covering on the hood as well.
I DD my car so I did get some chips on the hood... none on the bumper..

Cost was about $600 in NJ...Worth it..

I did the bumper, half hood, headlights, mirrors and rockers, coming up to above the rear scoop (GS). Hard to see it when it's clean. Otherwise just see a dust line.

The nose and almost half way up the hood. Headlights and fog lights as well. Oh, and the side mirrors, don't forget them, very important too. It's the 3M vanguard film that I had applied to the car. Expel is the best, but a little pricey. The 3M has done a great job of protecting the paint which is of course everyone's concern. If you don't mind paying a little extra, go with Expel. I have the splash guards all around which protects the rear.

Do it, if it's the first mod you do on the car, then make it the clear bra mod. You will be happy you did.

I wish I would have gotten it, but at the time (2007) all of the film was not as good as it is today. Mine is a daily driver and sits in the hot Texas sun 10 hours a day. The car also saw lots of interstate speed driving on debris littered roads. It certainly would have saved against the sand and small debris that is all over the front bumper cover. Of course, sharp rocks and other larger debris like metal flashing would have gone right through. So I would have at least done the front bumper cover, side mirrors and the first few inches of the bottom of the hood. Those are the areas that show the most damage on my car after 130k+ miles. Nothing paint cannot fix....

.... except that after time, you will get spidering all over, especially around the areas where the fascia takes a hard turn like fog lights and the front air opening. This is just from the fascia flexing constantly and age. My understanding is nothing can fix that except a new bumper cover.

Had it on mine when I got the car. (2008 ZO6) I really like it. No chips at all and it shines up nice. The only thing is when you are wearing Polarized sun glasses it looks like grease spots on it. Don't ask me why but without sun glasses it looks fine.
