Default Daddy got a new pair of shoes

Lightening up my fat pig as much as possible. Between the two piece rotors and the weld rims I cut off 70 lbs of rotational mass. Going to the track tomorrow to see what she does

That is one sexy GS Sir!! Sixty four pounds of rotational mass should equate to a nice seat of the pants gain. Nice job!!!

Thank you. I just did paint correction also. It helped out alot. I am also looking into ceramic coating for the paint. Nothing is cheap though for the vette.

Sure
Rotors were from Performance AFX, rings were Coleman. A two piece rotor they were 9 lbs lighter than stock. Total 18 lbs for the fronts
Rears were 4 lbs lighter total saving 8 lbs
Two piece rotors were 26 lbs

I used stock chrome spiders The rears were 69lbs with a mickey Thompson drag radial. I went with a weld S71 18x11 with a 18 inch Mickey 305-35-18. The welds with the mickey weighed in at 51 lbs Total saving on the rear were 36lbs
Front stock chrome oem spyders were on a nitto tire they weighed 54lbs
I went with the weld S71 for the fronts with the nitto invo. Weight was 49 lbs. Total savings 8 lbs

So actually total saving were 70lbs. I wrote everything down as I bought them. Now mind you I did all this on a bathroom scale so take it for what its wroth. I am going to the track today and will see how much it helped.

Im not really sure what your trying to say? Are you knocking me? The brakes were a better upgrade. I wanted them. The rims look better and I still wanted them and the weight saving was alot to me. How much money spent is irrelevant all long as the person who owns the car likes the car.

If I dont even gain .10 in the quarter mile, I am still happy with what I spent and how much I spent because in the long run it is just for fun. So thank you for the compliment and I hope you enjoy your day. I wil be spending another 3500 on an E85 set up and probably 1500 on a twin disc clutch. Hope that ain't to much for anyone else but fro me its ok.

Actually, that isn't quite right. Your comparison is using sprung weight, the changes the OP made were to unsprung weight.

Unsprung weight is about a 1:2 ratio, so his 70lb weight loss in unsprung weight translates closer to 140lbs in total weight.

The differences may not show up much at the drag strip, maybe a 1 or 2 mph, but for Road Racers like myself there are improvements not only in acceleration but handling too. Either sport will feel the difference.

I didn't even wanna explain this to the guy. But bottom line I go to the drag strip, half mile, will do full mile and and try road course this year. Who cares what who spends on their car.

Flex fuel conversion, e85, labor, other stuff Im haveing done, a bit of this a bit of that, a dyno tune, and some doughnuts will be above 3k with labor. If you would like to get a copy of the bill or estimate I would be more than happy to get it for you. The injectors are gonna be expensive also.
