New to me Z-51!

First congrats on the purchase, nice fox body, nice F body and lastly nice journal of your trip. I once went to Chicago to get a Toyota pickup and stayed overnight at some dumpy motel in Ohio somewhere on the way back and thought what the hell was I doing but it ended up being fine and a great 10 hour trip home!
The C6 is a great car and leaps and bounds ahead of the C5. GM really did a great job with the car.

Guess it's actually not a myth about all foxbody headlights looking like cross eyed hookers. And don't let me forget about the SS catfish
Anyways congrats on owning the sweetest of them all. You'll never look back

Beautiful! I have a Z51 optioned C6 myself and it's a fantastic car.
I came from an 01 Firebird myself where I frequented LS1Tech regularly. That Camaro SS you had was beautiful. Love the f-bodies. Welcome to the forums.

Congrats....a worthy upgrade.
Just remember as you use this forum:
1) It is Z51...no "dash"
2) Z51 is an option package and you might get comments on referring to yours as a "Z51" model (including comments like mine)
3) The GS guys have no issue with you calling your car a Narrow Body.
Have fun....from a fellow narrow body C6er

Congrats...great looking Z51 optioned Corvette. For all of the option codes, look inside the glove compartment for a list. Then you can go here to see what they mean: http://www.corvette-web-central.com/...teRPOCode.html

Congrats. I just got an 06 Z51 "optioned" vert in March. Still can't wipe the grin off my face. Nor have I taken the badges off the fenders. lol

Same here. Originally I was going to take them off the front fenders but they started to grow on me. I may even replace my wheel center caps with Z51 centers. Afterall, the Grand Sport and Mighty ZRs are performance packages also. ZR1, Z15, Z06 and Z51 are all RPO performance packages. The fine folks at Chevrolet just figured out a marketing niche to sell a few more. Same as bringing back the Stingray label.
To each their own. I also plan on putting a retro type HP/Displacement tag on the dash by the shifter similar to what my C3 had too. As soon as I get it hydrocarbon dipped.

Congrats on the purchase. It's a great looking car. I bought my 2006 Z51 optioned car back in 2009, also sight unseen, except a ton of pics from the dealer in St. Mary's OH. I flew in, and drove it back home. It was my first vette, and I could not get the smile off my face for the 22 hr drive home.
I looked at a White vette, but picked VY instead. I had a white 77 T/A new.
Enjoy the C6

You got a lot of responses because people tend to lambast people who call their Z51 optioned Corvettes as a Z51, two-fold if you choose to put Z51 badges on it.
To each their own on what they want to call/badge their car as. I just call mine Vette.
Beautiful car and congrats!
