Exhaust system sound

Depends on your definition of "best" sound. Go to youtube and listen to videos to give you an idea. Also, most manufacturers have a sound clip for you to listen to. Plus, if you are looking to simply change the mufflers, I think you are going to have a difficult time doing so. Probably an axle back system is more of what you are looking for. I like my B & B Fusions.

Now let us know what type of sound are looking for (Deep/throaty, exotic and do you care if it drones a little or lot)? Does price matter? An do you plan on putting headers and/or a cam in it later down the line? These are important to know to somewhat help you out.

Don't plan on putting headers or a cam in. Just looking for something louder than stock, but not so loud I can't stand it.

I would say based on what your saying, Corsa would be the way to go. It doesn't drone. I had the Corsa Xtreme and to me I wish it was a little louder but as I said it didn't drone, so you may want to look at the corsa Sport exhaust, they are more higher pitch European sounding. With that said, if you want more of a deeper more muscle car sound then I would say Borla. Maybe go with the S-type I hear some people say it doesn't drone and some people say it does. Just keep an eye in the for sale section. If you look at videos on youtube make sure you look and see if those cars have headers and cam because it's very few out there that are bone stock with just exhaust. I think on borla site they have sound clips. I hope that helps you out.

I'm in that apparently small group who prefers the OEM stock system. About to revert mine from the Dynomax axle-backs the previous owner had installed. Drone in 6th on the hwy is significant.
Everyone I talk to has either Corsas or Borla S2 or Touring, and they sound good and apparently don't drone. I just don't want to throw that kind of coin into it. I'm fine with the feel of acceleration, don't really care if I can hear it.

If you are looking to only change the mufflers, check out the Magnaflow 14336. I put 2 of those on my 2005 C6 and loved the way they sounded. Deep, mellow but not loud. Best part was the price. The 2 mufflers plus labor came out to be $280 with reusing the stock tips.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on the Borla system, I would recommend the SLP Powerflo axle-back system for around $700. I have this, and it provides a nice low rumble without being overly loud (such as with something like the Loudmouth systems).

If you do want the Borla system contact Brandon at Maryland Speed he hooked me up with a very good price shipped to my front door. Not really a lot more than $700 (in my opinion). If you don't want drone at highway speed in low RPM then I'd definitely go with the Borla Type II. Borla engineered it to not drone on the C6. Deep throaty sound with the nice burble when you let off and 4 inch tips.
