Default front tire help

I am about to replace my front tires because they are worn out on interior edge due to the "natural camber" that the corvettes have. This is my second time doing this in the past few years and its upsetting that I have to keep replacing tires when only the edge is worn out and the inside of the tire has PLENTY of tread left.

My questions is how are other people addressing this issue and what tires are you going with to help? Right now I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires and I like the run flats since this is my DD, but I am open to other options.

Here is a pic of my tire right now. You can see ho much the inside edge is worn compared to the middle of the tire. Tire pressure is not an issue, I keep the tires properly inflated.

First of all, get a new 'factory spec' alignment done. It helped mine a lot. If you have directional tires you can run them for a certain number of miles, have them remounted to make the inside the outside and run them again. I plan on doing that with my new Michelins.

Get the Pfadt street specs alignment done. Just do a Google search and print out the specs, then bring them to your alignment shop. Other than this, run 30 lbs cold in the tires, and you should see even wear.

You are unfortunately mistaken about "natural camber" causing unequal tread wear. What you are experiencing is tread wear caused by an improper alignment. Check with a local Vette club to find an alignment shop with a good reputation & have the problem corrected.

Great feedback already! Thank you very much!! I will look into changing the side of the car that the tires are on and I will look into the alignment specs. I appreciate the quick responses!

If you're getting about 30,000mi out of those tires, then that's normal. If significantly less then it's an alignment issue.

I think you meant to say, if you have NON-directional tires, you can turn them around, so the inner part of the tread is on the outside! Directional tires can only roll in one direction.

I am sitting in my alignment shop right now, with the exact same issue. EXACTLY. My guy Tom is super experienced in all car issues {Porsche specialist}. My tire was worn so badly that the tire thread is very worn on the inside edge. I thought for sure it was his alignment but my guy brought me to the hunter alignment machine and showed me everything was within spec.

What a coincidence.

He blamed it on the tire manufacturer... Michelin.

The newest model Michelin tire, we think probably fixed this. I'm going to post a picture.

Great minds think alike. Just had those put on this morning.
Old AS+run flats....

Two years on these so around 35,000 miles. No other tire ever wore on the inside like that.
New AS3+ are so much smoother and quieter.
Super smooth well over the century mark.

Tire rack... My alignment is now dead on with the new tires. My alignment guy is my friend for 30 years. He aligns race Vettes too.

It was the tires.... Not the car.

BTW, 140,000 miles and the front end is tight as can be. What a great c6.... Love love love it.

All I've seen is "within spec" can be a large range of settings.

Yep. Looks like a toe problem. The roads have gotten so bad around here that I've started going in for alignments at least every six months and sometimes more often than that.

You can't blame a tire manufacturer for a camber problem! If he set up the alignment to the same "specs" as before, the same thing is going to happen again with any tire you put on the car!

It all depends on your driving habits!

That's exactly correct!!! To specs means it has a camber that Will ware your tires out. It's set up that way for the track for cornering. Unfortunately most of us don't race on the track, needs to be set up for the street. Standard line up shop will set it up to "specs" liability issues if they choose to do anything else. Find someone who knows about corvettes. Patrick Suberban Chevrolet Gresham Oregon excellent and he
Knows vettes.
